You're right, plus I haven't had a enough experience with Windows phone OS to properly judge it.

Nate 10-12-2012 05:04 PM

This isn't a thread for mobile OS discussion.

Mr. Bungle 10-12-2012 10:08 PM

So all it is is a browser that only browses the OWI/JAW site?

Man, what a gyp. Better be free.

Nate 10-12-2012 10:33 PM

Does it give a notification when new content appears? Because that might just make it worth it.

I think I read somewhere saying it'll send a push notification when new content appears. But can't remember where I read that.
(There's been no new content since to test this)

Also...

Abe says hello when the app opens!!

Crashpunk 10-13-2012 09:13 AM

Yes it's free.

Scrabaniac 10-14-2012 10:50 AM

I have opened that app so many times just to hear abe haha :')

Why do they hate Android?

It doesn't mean it won't ever be released on Android.

Nepsotic 11-02-2012 06:07 AM

That makes sense, after all, Android is a better OS.

Steamer_KING 11-02-2012 10:43 AM

Here we go again...

ANYWAY, the app is not something spectacular, yet. I'll wait for AppSpeak and see what's new.

Haruka 11-02-2012 11:00 AM

Is there any YouTube footage of the app? It tells better than a picture.

Don't think so, but you don't miss much. There's a download section, a blog updates section, Dear Alf, Dev diaries, the games and the official Twitter. Nothing much actually. Just when opening the app, you can hear Abe saying "Hello!". That's all.

I don't think it has push, at least it didn't ask for permission for it.

Haruka 11-02-2012 11:13 AM

In other words it is like a "portable" Oddworld website. Thanks for telling me.

Yeah, for now, I hope.

Yeah, kind of a let down, innit?

Nepsotic 11-02-2012 12:09 PM

Well, what else could they do with it?

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2012 12:36 PM

I dunno. A portable Oddworld database would've been pretty cash.

STM 11-02-2012 03:18 PM

Something like the old website with an official canonical encyclopaedia of all the stuff? That was an awesome lay out.

Nepsotic 11-02-2012 03:24 PM

That's still up, but its buggy and I can't remember the URL. It is still up, though. Google it.

For that you can just visit an Oddworld Wikia.

I remind the old website before the blog.

Nate, you rock. Thankyou immensely.
I thought everything on the old site version was lost, but even with the awkward scrolling problems I'm glad to see the old content is still there. ^^
Hooray for the return of content like character bios and other assorted goodies that I feared were lost.

Connell 11-03-2012 03:11 PM

I used to spend days on end trawling through that site and all it's goodies when I was younger.

Haruka 11-03-2012 03:50 PM

I had no idea the old website could still be visited, thanks Nate!

Indeed, I used to spend a while reading the stuff and checking the goodies.

Xavier 11-06-2012 02:22 AM

Heh I tought that site was too good to be lost, glad to see some of you guys think so too.
Note that other Oddworld sites were also backed up and made available here:

Aside from typing in the full address, is there any way to get around the scrolling issues? It's pretty inconvenient going back to the root menu every time.

Thanks for the links as well, I always lose the URL

Try using Internet Explorer.

marlz 11-12-2012 08:24 PM

Or a combination of the tab and enter keys and a whole lot of blind luck. Works for me.

AlexFili 11-13-2012 09:06 AM

Please let there be a fart button

Vyrien 11-13-2012 11:34 AM

Thanks Nate, worked for me.

A self-contained portable encyclopedia would be great to read on the train.
