Come to think of it I always like titles that sound like myths or fairytales – Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot and similar. Plus, I always felt like the Quintology needed something to make its constituent games stand out from spinoff titles.
Abe’s Oddysee is the start of a huge story in a huge world. The title should reflect that. |
@DH - What would they call a hypothetical remake of MO, though, if they followed this idea of naming? I think perhaps it would work really well for AO because RF was the primary focus, but in AE you have Bonewerkz, FeeCo, Necrum, etc. In MO you have Flub Fuels, Splinterz, the Vykers Airship. The game becomes too diverse for that maybe.

Homer's Oddysee.
|
Abe's OD.
On Brew, you know. EDIT: I did think of a proper suggestion, but it's not sending. |
:
With MO, we both know a remake isn't going to happen anytime soon. But that'd be easy to name since the plot focuses on Vykker's Labs - Perhaps the plot could be re-written a bit to make all those other facilities be directly associated with the Labs rather than just being a part of the industrialist faction where the people you need to rescue are being held. |
E: Seems fair enough, I still think AE is too big a game just to be called, Soulstorm however, but that's just me.
Also, Abe's Illiodd? |
:
And I had the idea to call it Abe's Oddiversary :) |
And I was agreeing with you. :P
|
Ah, what the hey.
Origins of Oddworld: Abe Moddernised. Or Oddworld Origins if that's snappier. Nobody nick that, now. |
Oddworld Begins.
|
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Reincarnated!
|
I'd prefer if it was just called Oddysee HD officially, with no ingame title like the original.
If you don't like HD just call it Oddysse. It's just more striking than any other title. |
El Viaje Misterioso de Abe
|
:
|
The first oddventure.
That's really the only other thing I can think ofbesides Abe's Oddysee HD. |
I agree that it should be simular, almost unchanged from the original title. Abe's Oddysee HD would be cool but Abe's Oddysee Oddiversary sounds awesome.
|
Gabe's Oddysee It's going to be worth the weight.
|
Is anyone else having a problem submitting ideas? It keeps telling me that it failed to submit my suggestion and I should contact Oddworld through another method.
EDIT: Fix'd My suggestions were: Oddworld: Odious Oddysee of Abraham Lure Oddysee: Rehatched Abe's Oddysee: Repossession |
Just submitted a couple of ideas :)
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee- New 'N' Tasty edition and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee- Ground Up! I was going for the double meaning of 'ground up', as in 'built from the ground up' (said a lot by JAW regarding the game), and also 'via a meat grinder'. I hope that comes across correctly! I think both the Oddworld name and Abe's Oddysee title should remain because it is the same story and same part of the quintology effectively. All the HD version needs in my opinion is a little subtitle to distinguish it from the original version. Also, I really like the suggestion of 'Abe's Oddysee- Reprocessed' by AvengingGibbons earlier. |
I do like the idea of dropping the "Abe's".
|
:
Taking Abe’s name out of the title takes away from that somewhat. |
Then pick it up in the next game.
This isn't AO. This is a HD remaster of AO that they want to give a new title. The only sensible way of doing that without it being stupid and confusing is to drop the "Abe's". |
Just, Oddysee.
My reasoning is that since this game is supposedly redesigned, not just prettier parts on existing models, so advertising it with the "HD" sticker isn't necessary. Also no offense, but the "name's ___" makes me think cheap flash game. Oddysee sounds interesting, it's easy to remember, and it gives the series a bit of a different feel to it. |

That's the thing, I'm not sure how much they would want to keep the same title wise.
Would a long one be awkward? I was thinking of something similar to the fangus title Something like "Oddworld: The Rapacious Rise of Molluck the Glukkon" But that's a pretty hefty title. |
:
|
But it's too tacky for Oddworld. It would really hurt a dark, moody game to have such a cheap title.
|
I think it recalls the crass marketing of the Industrialists.
|
I wish this game would be a retail title so we could have fun with the box quotes.
“New and improved recipe!” “200% more pixels!” “Only a third of our workforce was harmed in the making of this game” |
You could have a "May contain traces of..." list twenty items long.
