I thought Microsoft's conference was better than the one last year, I thought the South Park game and Tomb Raider looked pretty cool. The new Halo 4 footage was pretty cool too. I'm really looking forward to Ubisoft's presentation, bring on Rayman!

Halo 4 looked boring. Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell look kind of interesting. I was mostly interested in Resident Evil VI, which is gonna be awesome. The gameplay looks really fun, you can actually move while shooting!

Aside from the obvious heavy weights on E3 this year, I'm particularly interested in Dust 514 which will be announced and spoken about in Sony's presentation tommorow. It's an FPS extension of the EVE Online universe and will be the very first MMOFPS that will be persistently tied to an existing MMO, sharing the same server, currency, chat channels, clans, market, items, etc.
It's the very first time something like this is ever being done and CCP (the company behind EVE and Dust 514) is aiming for this game to be a heavy weight alongside Call of Duty, Battlefield and Halo. Sony is collaborating with them very closely and have approved a 10 year expansion plan where the game will be constantly updated over the years, adding new content (not just map packs, entirely new features, locations, weapons, graphics) with each expansion. And all of this will be completely free. You can download the game from the PS Store and earn money. You'll be able to buy currency in the PS Store as well to unlock certain items faster, but there is nothing in the store that can't also be unlocked by regular playing. I'm not a console shooter enthusiast, especially not on the PS3 because it has an absolute horrid controller for shooters, but I am very very VERY interested to see how this game will score and how long its lifespan is going to be. CCP is aiming to establish a new genre in console gaming, a new way of publishing games. Instead of churning out new games every year, they want to keep updating this game for the next 10 years. Anyway, have a look at the presentation and judge for yourself. Keep in mind that all the items, equipment, vehicles and strikes are all player bought, owned and/or performed. The money you earn during matches can be used to upgrade your tank fitting, soldier fitting and if the person who issued your contract is online in EVE, they can even bombard the battlefield you are playing on. Dead Space 3 looks like shit, they added co-op and human enemies. There goes the last bit of atmosphere of that series...
In another news, Ubisoft's presentation ended and so far it's the best one, Watch Dogs, the new IP, looks really cool and unique and Rayman Legends looked quite nice. Zombi U seems okay too. |
Rayman Legends looks just too perfect. I know it's coming out on PS3/360 but I just want to hear someone say it already.

God Microsoft are glorious bastards. They showed some cool games, then basically said "ha ha, fuck E3" and showed everyone how they've made the 360 the "do whatever you want" box and then proceeded completely sideswipe Nintendo's second-screen peripheral.

It seems like they're trying a bit too hard to have an overly emotional story with amazing visuals. than just making a game that's simply fun to play.
In other news, Far Cry 3 looks pretty boring. But I don't like shooters, so I'm a bit biased. |

Sony's was pretty good, Playstation All Stars looked cool, lmao at Hydra trying to eat Qwark. Sadly Sly didn't win that fight but he'll still win E3...Also Last of Us looked pretty raw, just couldn't help thinking "this could've been Jak 4" :/

Microsoft's was nigh unwatchable, Sony's was basically the same shit but with a much better presenter and far better flow. It was much easier and more enjoyable to watch.

-A few Triple A titles worth drooling over -Ubisoft showing off -Boring multimedia tablet/pad connectivity -Boring casual kiddy uninteresting motion stuff -Boring but technically important TV, music, sports stuff Thing is, Microsoft doesn't really need some big show-stopper. Sony kind of...did. They are in seriously bad shape financiallly. |
