Valve won't be passing Half-Life onto anyone else, I don't think. They've still continued to make decent games, and work on their own terms. Valve are one of the biggest games companies out there right now and Half-Life is their flagship game - Any future games in the series have to be good for their sake. Although they may have a problem of not being able to live up to fan hype - Which is something most developers have a problem with.

Also, Valve own the rights to Half-Life exclusively. They never sold the IP to a publisher who can take it away from them.

They better hurry up with it. After all this time since they announced it, we got nothing to look forward to but another possible 'Duke Nukem Forever' facade.

Crashpunk 02-20-2012 09:16 AM

The sad thing is is that it might just be another Duke Nukem Forever as in everyone is wanted it and is existed but once the game comes it's pretty shit. I really hope not and I want to be blown away by the next game, but you never know, It might but be about as average as Episode 1 and 2 were. (more so Ep 1)

Well this is Valve so I'm expected to be blown away much like how Portal 2 did.

DarkHoodness 02-20-2012 09:27 AM

As I said earlier, Valve have too much reputation to lose if they fuck up with their flagship franchise. Valve are much, much larger players in the video games industry than 3D Realms ever was and have a lot more to lose.

At the same time they're only human and make mistakes. If HL3 turns out to be shit, it'll be a very sad day.

EDIT: Whoops, that was embarrassing.

What has ID got to do with anything?

Valve won't release a shit Half Life 3, simply because they're not likely to run out of cash and be forced to release it as-is. They have their standard 'When it's done' release date for a reason, you know.

Oops - Seems I was so tired last night that I remembered my gaming history incorrectly and got ID Software and 3D Realms mixed up.

bastard.

Truth.

By the way I liked the 3rd game of Crash.

There's the usual banter between members who know each other well, and there's being a cock. You're doing the latter.

Well he's on the level of ground fucking zero and is still alive.

Yet, I'm the one whom is facing a ban-hammer out of shear bullshit.

Call it want you want but I'm sick of their retarded games.

OH and FYI being an asshole is not trolling, just in case you don't forge- Oh wait too late for that now is it.

Nate 02-21-2012 05:25 PM

Shut up, sheridanm962. This is your final warning.

DarkHoodness 02-24-2012 05:24 PM

Have some news.

Guess we'll be waiting a long time to find out the fate of HL3. I kind of get the feeling that it's not in production at the moment but they don't want to drop it entirely because they know it'll upset a lot of people so aim to produce it later - But they don't know how they'll do it, while at the same time not wanting to attract unwanted hype.

That's just my speculation.

Dixanadu 02-24-2012 06:36 PM

Later is better than never.

Then again, I'd prefer if the final showdown with the Combine would span an entire game, not an 'episode' consisting of 4-7 missions.

sheridanm962 02-24-2012 09:15 PM

They had to make Half-Life 3 instead of an episodic to accept the fact that they cannot make a small little episode, we (fans) expect more than just another episode.

Crashpunk 02-25-2012 01:33 AM

If they show just a small clip of HL3 at E3, I will be the happiest gamer alive.

Also I really don't want episodes again, I want HL3 to be a game on it's own and about as long as HL2, maybe even longer. Multiple endings would be cool too.
