If they are, mind taking pictures? I definitely wouldn't mind seeing your figurine painting.

Sekto Springs 01-24-2012 09:55 AM

I could never say no to you, Joe <3

MeechMunchie 01-24-2012 11:15 AM

I uploaded these pics years ago, I've shaded them since then. They don't even make that kind of flock any more.

Plus an assortment of other gribbliness, but I do have some dignity. I'm not clogging up this thread with my vanity. Though my Carnifex with flesh hooks and mandibles is pretty cool... As is my feeder tendils'd Broodlord... Well, maybe another day.

Also, I lost the picture of my favourite Terminator D:

Crashpunk 01-24-2012 01:06 PM

My mate is a big collector and player of Warhammer 40K. I've seen it been played before and I've even been to Warhammer World with him. (It's only down the road from my house :tard:) I think its really intresting. The artwork and the characters are really unique but I'll never have enough time or dedication to play.

I've always wanted to play D&D just to say I've tried it. It looks pretty fun even know I've heard it takes longer then you think.

Fucking

Strike Witch 01-24-2012 03:51 PM

Oh, Biovore and Lichtor.

You know they are the two most useless models in the entire Tyranid army?

Well after the Pyrovore which doesn't even know what the fuck it's supposed to do.

hedjeroo 01-24-2012 04:12 PM

I play quite a lot of D&D, 3.5e, though I've played a tiny bit of 4e. I've played a little oWoD and a little Exalted too.

Mac Sirloin 01-24-2012 05:37 PM

Presenting: My Orks. In startlingly low definition. Fucking ipod camera. Anyway...

This is an Ork Mek. It was a surprisingly hefty load of bullshit lining up his gun so that his head could be glued on right. Otherwise my first individual Ork completed.

A grouping of the six I've painted, note the terrible, awful, deeply emotionally scarring image quality. Then vomit. Like this guy...

My favourite, mostly because it was easy to glue a bazillion guns to him and the yellow around his mouth is actually 'vomit brown' paint. He has a Bolter, Two Flamethrowers (one is the 'antennae' on his promethium tank, one is stuck to the big, big gun) a rokkit and whatever the hell the thing with the exposed artillery shells is supposed to be. I took it off of a warbike. Still need to paint him some more and it's a shame I just stuck all this crap on an Ork Boy. If I get playing I'm affixing a shokk attack gun somewhere.

Oh, pardon me.

I like this one. Style. Goggles. Staples in his face. He reminds me of me when I was a plastic miniature.

Anonyman! 01-24-2012 06:33 PM

You guys are all so talented. I can't paint for shit.

Well, maybe now. I've barely looked at the new codex despite owning a copy. After I saw all the biomorph options they cut out I had to go lie down for a while.

Also, whose idea was it to name all of the Tyranid monsters after Roman bureaucrats?

Strike Witch 01-25-2012 06:07 AM

This will make sense of it.

If you feel inclined to try 40K again do what I did; buy the Lootas and Burnas Ork set (should be comparably cheap: 30-35$) A citadel detail brush and the following paint pots:
Chaos Black (you will need this)
Ork/Snot Green
Tin Bitz
Boltgun Silver (or whatever, a darker shade of silver seems like it would look better)
Snakebite leather
Some sort of red (I'd avoid Scab red though, I've been using it and it's all watery and hard to get to stick)
and any other colour you want your Ork clothing to have. A white would be a good idea, for their teeth.
This should total maybe 60 dollars but the important thing is the set itself. Lootas and Burnas are long range/close range specialists, respectively, so there's a lot of varied customization options in there. It also leaves plenty of extra gubbins for when you want to tweak your Orks a bit.
Again, only if you happen to come into 60$ and 40K piques your interest a little again, but the set alone convinced me the hobby is worth my time even if I'm just painting.

My boyfriend just got me into Battletech, it is a blast. Plus, I already play Mechwarrior, so I was right at home. Fascinating universe.

MeechMunchie 01-25-2012 11:12 PM

I think you've mistaken me for someone competitive.

I think you've mistaken me for someone competitive.

Would it kill you to know that the average store battle between people over 14 is like that these days?

Trust me, I know that feel. I have 100 bucks worth of Chaos Possessed before I found out they were the most useless and overpriced thing in the army.

STM 01-26-2012 05:11 AM

Just depends on how you use them in convention with your other units.

Strike Witch 01-26-2012 07:41 AM

No, not really. Posessed have a different ability randomly decided each game, two of which are useless for the unit, and they cost way too much points.

For ten posessed marines you could easily rock three Obliterators who can teleport, spawn any heavy weapon in the armour, have higher toughness than god, and spew fire.

STM 01-26-2012 07:41 AM

You probably should have got some termies instead of those rubbish possessed marines then. Silly.

i used to collect Skaven. none of them are painted because i absolutely suck sweaty arse crack at painting them. honestly. i don't even try. but i love assembling them, even though they don't look as good as i'd like once put together seeing as they're all just grey. if i remember i'll post some pictures later.

i also love the Skaven lore. i find it incredibly interesting.

mr.odd 01-26-2012 01:46 PM

I thought about getting into Warhammer40K. I have been addicted to the lore since i got dawn of war.

Is anyone here a big time player of this game? Is it any good?

MeechMunchie 01-26-2012 02:20 PM

The game only makes up about a fifth of the hobby. Other parts include painting, modelling, collecting, lore and camaraderie.

Strike Witch 01-26-2012 05:57 PM

If you want Warhammer on a budget, just use Mantic's games.

The rules are like six pages long and the miniatures are cheap as shit.

Oh god, I went down to the Hobby shop I get my Orks from and happened to look at some of the Skaven boxes and glanced through the codex a bit. I love the technological motif a lot of them seem to have. If I ever get into WFB I'm totally going Skaven, no question.

Also, picked up some ork Nobz

after work. They're basically just scaled up Boyz with kkkooler weapons that are mostly circular saws on sticks (imokwiththis). Also finally got some white paint so they don't all have big stupid green mouths, argh.

That's Clan Skryre, my favourite. They specialise in dangerous, unstable, reality-warping weaponry.

Take the Warp-Lightning Cannon: A boulder-sized hunk of pure Warpstone encased in a runic bronze barrel, covered in channeling symbols to direct the Chaotic radiation into an all-penetrating laser/lightning thing. How do they fire it? Get big metal hammers and smash them into the side of what is basically fantasy plutonium.

The other clans are Eshin (Rat ninjas), Pestilens (Plague rats) and Moulder (Mutatated Frankensteinesque aberrations).

STM 01-27-2012 03:41 PM

<3 Pestilens

Clan Skryre and Clan Moulder are my favourite clans. i especially love the Skaven motto: "He who runs away lives to fight another day".
