While the fucking slow as hell starts are my biggest gripe with Final Fantasy games I still enjoy them. I've never played one through yet, though. I have an FFVII save on my PS3 in some desert thing before the chocobo race. I'm stuck and too proud to look at a walkthrough.

Also, Dragon Quest 8 takes around 20 hours to really open up as a huge, interesting game. It was fun leading upto that, but after the 20 hour mark you realise how massive it is.

Chocobo races in FFVII look like a bad acid trip.

Can anyone let me know where to find the keystone in FFVII? I know "some rich guy" has it, but I don't know where the hell he is.

The music from FF games is generally great. I love most of the music fro FFVII that I've heard. I want to do some orchestral/concert band arrangements for my school ensembles to play.

Some pivotal songs from the series have been re-recorded by Uematsu's band, Black Mages.

I like the Grand Cross remake, from FFIX.

I know, but it would be good practice for me to transcribe something for a large ensemble.

The only one I've ever played was I and II on the GBA and XIII on my Xbox.
But XIII is like watching a fucking 12 hour movie. Barely and gameplay and all cinematic.

And when there is gameplay it's so fucking linear that it may as well be a movie.

I found out yesterday that final fantasy was called "final fantasy" because the Square Enix thought it would be their last game before the company got shut down.

I would say something derogitory about Final Fantasy and Square in general, but they published Just Cause 2. So in my books shitty JRPGs for awesome open world games is a fair trade off.

I watched some Let's Play videos of FFXIII the other day. I thought it looked pretty fun, might consider renting it if I'm in for some mindless linear gameplay.

That's the problem. It LOOKS fun, when you're watching it, but when you get down to playing it, it's not so great.

Lost Odyssey was the real FFXIII.

I wonder why FFXIII got so many good reviews if it wasn't a good game. Or do you people perhaps mean it was a good game as a game, but not as a FF game?

I sort of want to play XIII just to see what all the fuss is about.

Also because I've played every other final fantasy ever and I can't be letting the side down.

It's bad as a game not just as a FF game. I actually can't find anything good to say about the game, it's just too... baaaaaddd.
