It'd be really exciting if it was a completely new Abe game that was supposed to come out after/before Exoddus.

Hand of Odd doesn't seem too unlikely, but I don't think we'll see it in the form that was originally meant, especially if it's developed by only a handful of developers. So yeah, social media might not be too surprising.

SligStorm seems to be likely too as they are currently working on a 2D engine...

I'd love either because as a prolific player of AoE, Settler and DoW I could get into an RTS although I personally don't think it would work so well in Oddworld.

Alternatively Sligstorm seems pretty cool because its a classic 2D platformer...or is it?

If I remember correctly (I can't think where I read this, sorry!), JAW were asked recently whether a sequel to one of their own IP's would be coming soon. The reply basically said they will be working purely on Oddworld titles for the foreseeable near future, so I guess this pretty much confirms the new project is Oddworld-related :D

I also think it might be Hand of Odd- purely because there were a lot of questions about it when Abe's Twitter page started. He always seemed to nicely avoid giving a definite answer whether it was in the works or not :p

But wasn't HoO a shelved title from the Munch era? I think that if we're speculating about Oddworld it has to be Sligstorm.

From the early Munch era, which was late '90's.

Hand of Odd was announced on Oddworld.com at least as early as September 1999, and had obviously been worked on earlier than that. No idea when it was shelved.

Oh! I didn't know that. Then there's a high possibility it is Hand of Odd.

I know more work went into it than went into SligStorm, but then we know they're developing a 2.5D engine for a 2D sidescroller, so… *shrug*

Do we know of any other early Oddworld titles that were shelved apart from HoO and Sligstorm???? If Munch came out in 2001 (i think) then maybe Squeek was being planned in the 90's?

I don't think Squeek is likely; it was never in production, so it could not have been shelved.

An advancement on the plot of the Quintology would be more satisfying for me- I genuinely find the storyline intriguing and want to know what Abe will do next. However, I don't think this will happen until Oddworld regains some of its old popularity, which hopefully is what all these new bits and pieces will do, yes?

Unless someone actually says it's going to be an Oddworld title I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet.
