I don't see cars as a status symbol - They're a tool. And I want my tools to be as practical and efficient as possible (did you see the vid I posted earlier?). If it's as good as they say, I'll be able to take myself seriously because I know I would have made a practical choice for myself.

Until you get in an accident or, god forbid, catch a gust of wind.

"It it's as good as they say," neither of those things will be a problem. Did you bother to watch the video?

An attractive car is not necessarily a safe car.

Havoc 01-26-2011 03:14 AM

No, but bigger cars generally are. When that small car is involved in a multicar pileup, they won't find it until they pull the wrecks apart :P

Requires no fuel? What do you call hay then?

Straw.

MeechMunchie 01-26-2011 04:51 AM

Bam!

Straw.

no. hay.

its a bit like prolonged use of red diesel in a standard diesel car. eventually, one way or another, you'll regret doing it. people say it doesn't do anything but save you money, others say the higher sulphur content will eventually fuck your car over. personally, i believe the latter.

True, but like I said, it's a compromise. The alternative for me is cycling or a scooter - I think I'm better off in this thing. (Crash test results again) At least I probably won't get killed in 30 MPH collisions...

Just stick with a horse and carriage. It's free, requires no fuel, and is waaay more fun.

Don't forget the time it'll eat up to maintain and look after the animal, the vets bills, the fact that you can't leave it alone for a few days like with other pets unless you stable it (expensive) or get someone to look after it for you - Horses generally need more than straw as food, too. :P And you still have the problem of roads not being designed for horses and carts and that they don't mix with cars, like how roads aren't designed for cyclists.

I drive a ford focus ZX3, 2003 model I believe. Funny thing is that it's manual, and I was never taught or expected to drive a stick until my parents found it at a good price.

It's ok, it's a nice flashy yellow so it's easy to spot out. I already got rear ended, which ended as a hit and run to my dismay, among other issues. But I guess if you're first car isn't a total wreck that you have to fix every couple of months, how else would you get the experience for newer ones?

It was just a way to get to and from the pub.

Drinking and driving isn't cool.

OddjobAbe 01-27-2011 08:09 AM

If I got dunk, I walked. In fact, somebody had let the tyres down once when I walked back in the morning to pick it up. That was a real hassle.

I hate cars.

Oh nonsense. You love them.

Dixanadu 01-28-2011 06:18 AM

I hate them because I have a tendency to be almost hit by them.

Phylum 01-28-2011 07:24 PM

I forgot about Pilot's car.

He wins this thread.

I've always found it interesting how manual cars are pretty much standard in Europe, while automatics are the standard in America.

My next car is going to be an automatic because it's a hybrid car, but I consider it a luxery above all else.

Havoc 01-30-2011 12:47 PM

No signs of MAJOR mental illness.

OANST 01-31-2011 06:20 AM

Well, um, okay.

Havoc: Send me a copy of your birth certificate, this past years pay stubs, and all of your current bank statements, and the car is yours!

Havoc 01-31-2011 12:58 PM

Why oh why would you need MY financial information to give me a half million dollar car? I'd be more concerned with your own, if I were you.

OANST 01-31-2011 01:12 PM

I want to make sure that you can keep up with the insurance payments.

Havoc 02-01-2011 05:01 AM

What, that isnt part of the deal? Fine, trust me i can pay em ;-) .
