An update was released for Munch's Oddysee on Steam so if you didn't get it then restart Steam. I played the game after the update was finished, but it still crashes in Raisin's Cave. My specs:

Nvidia GeForce GTX 460
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 3.0 GHz
4 GB DDR2 RAM
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Also, there's still no mouse or screen resolution support.

Don't think teh update is out cause mine has never updated and still has the same problem

People have been mentioning that their Munch downloaded a small update when they restarted Steam, but that this was likely to be Steam recognising a broken download and fixing it:
:

@jawltd I had my Munch issues fixed after restarting Steam and getting an 800 MB D/L. I think that's just Steam noticing a messed up D/L.

There is an issue with Stranger's Wrath running on ATI graphics cards that prevents me from even running it on one of my PC's; will post specs when I can.

You have an ATI graphics card? Have you tried:
:

UPDATE 2: We are hearing if you have an ATI/AMD graphics board, as a temp fix for corrupted graphics then disable the "Catalyst A.I." mode under the Advanced Settings in the Catalyst Control Panel tool.

Crashpunk 12-23-2010 03:42 AM

Abe's Oddysee Bug: Gamespeak sticks and doesn't work when pressing the keys. This also happends with the AO Demo on Steam.

and my Munch's Oddysee still crashes. i've tried everything.

lismati 12-23-2010 04:30 AM

Hmm, I sometimes can't use stones in Stockyard, and SW crashes when loading town just after tutorial.

only munch is chrashing for me :( why does this always happen when i want to play a game like that :(

d0mm2k8 12-23-2010 07:29 AM

Seriously, running Munch as an administrator and with XP Service Pack 2 compatibility works.

Well, it did for me and some other guy on this thread XD

For me, the one that ain't working is Stranger...

Manco 12-23-2010 08:19 AM

Apparently the patch for Munch's Oddysee is now live (although it may take some time to be available to everyone), so get downloading and testing!

Scraby 12-23-2010 08:32 AM

the prob is when i run it with winxp2 it chrashes, actually i have a black screen with loading sign and my taskbar,(im running on vista home basic on my laptop)

Oddey 12-23-2010 09:27 AM

Well, I downloaded the patch. Not to dissapoint it seems. The game runs very well, and now I can comment on the somewhat strange controls. When Munch is swimming, you must hold shift, otherwise he swims at, quite literally, a snail's pace. Same goes for possesion orbs. This seems a bit unnecesary, but it is really the only flaw in the port.:D

The game is still flawed obviously, but the port is fine, aside from the little shift issue.

I hope a patch for SW comes out soon.:D

MadmanMad 12-23-2010 09:40 AM

I got an annoying problem with muches oddysee.

There's hardly any sounds!

No music, the npcs don't make any noises (Apart from the mudokon guide dude) and no sound effects for jumping, running, collecting things.

I CAN hear some of the gamespeak sounds, and sound when you press the info buttons.

Anybody know what could be wrong, my sound card isn't broken as all my other games sound works perfectly fine.

Nemo 12-23-2010 09:44 AM

Stranger likes to slow down randomly when running around. It's not really a big issue and it doesn't affect anything, so I'm not going to post my specs. If I can run Crysis, I'm pretty sure I can run this.

Scraby 12-23-2010 09:49 AM

dammit the game is still crashign, and my nerves are,i tried to collect 50 spooce :/

You really want to collect some spooce?

Use the spooce regen power near the door. You'll get out... And find the game will prboably still crash.:D The game is fixed for me however.

Scraby 12-23-2010 10:06 AM

dang 45 spooce collected, and the game crashed :@
i hope i might get 50 and get out of that raisin cave (..)

Did you configure the controls to run instead of walk?

Scraby 12-23-2010 11:04 AM

dang the game crashed when i exited the cave :/

MojoMan220 12-23-2010 11:40 AM

Did you verify the cache files a couple times? I heard that worked for some.

Scraby 12-23-2010 11:48 AM

cache files? ugh... could you explain a bit,it was long time from when i worked with those files, forgot about it...

MojoMan220 12-23-2010 11:58 AM

In Steam, click on 'library' and right-click on Munch, then click on properties, under one of the tabs it will have the option to verify the cache.

Yeah whatever my Steam downloaded for Munch's Oddysee wasn't an update. I got the real update later on. No more crashing, but still missing mouse and screen resolution support. :(

Manco 12-23-2010 03:04 PM

Right now, JAW is focusing on figuring out game-breaking issues and fixing them. They'll be addressing customisation options in a later update.

Scraby 12-24-2010 01:17 AM

Munch crashed on me once, but now it's fine. And AO crashed once also, for no reason whatsoever.

Also, a glitch on MO, Spooceshrubs regrow INSTANTLY, you can stack up 100 by chanting in less than 20 seconds.

Crashpunk 12-24-2010 03:08 AM

after yesterdays Patch. MO is working 100% :D

I just need to buy myself a controller

Why would you be complaining about this.

Also, new Oddworld.com post: http://www.oddworld.com/?p=332
:

The primary issue with Munch’s Oddysee was crashing during the very first section of the game, Raisins Cave.

Last night we released a patch for this via Valve’s Steam network, the reports from the customers is that this has fixed the problem for at least 99% of the people suffering with the issue. So we now feel confident that the primary cause of the crashes has been fixed.

With regard to Stranger’s Wrath, the main issue seems to be in relation to performance or speed of the game. The testing we did for this simply wasn’t up to scratch and as such we are paying the price for that now. We are still unsure of the exact cause of the problem.

Yesterday one of the fans discovered that using an older video driver for his ATI card sped the came up unbelievable from 14fps to 90fps.

We are working with ATI to discover the root cause of the issue, and will hopefully be able to update you all on this as soon as we can.

As it is Christmas eve now, we are going to be closing up for a few days, but we will still keep trying to find and fix the Stranger’s Wrath performance issue at our end, and as soon as we have a solid update we will release it.
So MO should be working for most people now, but we'll have to wait until after Christmas for SW's patch. Seems reasonable to me.

MadmanMad 12-24-2010 04:18 AM

Nobody knows whats causing my sound glitch??

It is really fustrating trying to play the game when 80% of it is silent.

Have you tried:
  • Validating your Steam game files
  • Downloading the MO patch
  • Updating your drivers
