WHY DO THE FARTS SOUND THE SAME THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT I NEED TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION
THE SAME as what?
Each other, I should think. The number of available fart sounds is rather impoverished.

Cut the spam and mockery people!
OANST, this isn't your cup of tea, we get it, no need to annoy other people about it so would you kindly GTFO? |
SRSLY, that's the stupidest thread I ever seen. I can't belive it came out from Jango (I thought of Crappin' Elum or somebody like him)
:
This is a discussion thread about what chemical is used to kill Abe. Just because you aren't a chemist like some of us and aren't interested in this sort of thing, it doesn't mean that you can post things like this. You're doing nothing more than spamming really, I'm surprised at you lismati. If you don't like my thread - and this applies to everyone - then don't post on it. Because then I would only get posts from people who are actually interested. Not from people who don't care/are not interested, and who think it is clever to post these things that are completely pointless. You're spamming really, and I hope that I don't have to write posts like this anymore, because I don't want to be seen as spamming when I'm telling you to stop it! |

that gas might be coloured, like some gases are colored to make colored lights
I think it's chlorine.
I think it's Slig farts.
Colored Nerve Gas? I ain't a chemist so if it has a super scientific name like superhipoflubingleeberglabin or somethin like that, please clarify.
I'm quite confident that it doesn't have a super scientific name.

I've got an idea - the gas is Oddinium, it kills instantly, and Glukkons made it, good idea?
yeah sounds good
I'll add it to the Oddworld Encyclopædia right away.
:
I changed my mind :D Chlorine can't kill you so fast. (But maybe, it the pressure is VERY high, as Oddworld is very big, chlorine may kill instantly)
:
But I guess there is a possibility that it could be Oddinium. There's no evidence against the Glukkons developing it, however there is no evidence in any of the Oddworld games that Glukkons do make a gas called Oddinium. Also, the 'ium' in the word suggests that it is some sort of metal alloy, not a gas (e.g: platinum, magnesium, titanium etc). |
:
better get used to people lying. |
Helium.

I don't know english way to make names of new substances, so sorry about that, and Mercury (metal) can produce poisonous gas. (Polish Wikipedia says so)
Chlorine can kill instantly.
If you want other evidence, Wikipedia says: 'About 1,000 ppm can be fatal after a few deep breaths of the gas.' Therefore, a few deep breaths of chlorine at a concentration of 0.2% will kill you in seconds. The chlorine concentrations in Oddworld (if it is chlorine) are probably well over 2% because you can clearly see the green colour. Therefore, it would kill you quickly and easily in one breath, as we see when Abe breaths the gas. I've breathed in chlorine before (by accident) at a concentration of about 0.003%, and it made me cough nastily and it was rather painful. It has an instant effect. Concentrations 1,000 times that amount (3%) would easily kill you instantly. |
A fatal dose is not equivalent to instant death, just so you know.

And ten times the ten times amount (20%) would kill you before it has even reached you????
Very interesting discussion (made me sign up!), especially since I have a passion for chemistry myself :p
You have brought up chlorine due to the green colour and quick (yet not instant) lethality, and abundance. That would fit. However, the Sligs are unaffected by it - provable in both games. It could be argued that their masks work as gas masks. But... In the end of Oddysey, you can notice (by dropping into the board room the very last second) that Glukkons are completely immune to the gas as well. Logic-wise, the gas would probably have to be a very species-specific (in fact, Mudokon-specific) poison. It is possible however that the devs based their fictional toxic gas on chlorine. |
:
Yes, I do see where you are coming from, but Glukkons are much bigger and look physically tougher than mudokons. Perhaps the chlorine is not quite at a high enough concentration to harm them, or the Glukkons simply are resistant to it. But on your interesting point about it being specific to mudokons, I do think is likely. The game developers might have based it on the fact that stereotypically, toxic gas is green in colour. :
