I think that V4 feels a bit overly muscular, but it's pretty darn close to what I would imagine was a perfect scrab. That, and the angle the legs are coming out of the pelvic area from are my only complaints. And the second one is just about the positioning of the model's bits. The legs could be titled downwards a bit so the knee and pelvic joints are not at 90 degree angles. So yeah, apart from those two things, it's pretty much perfect in my eyes.

Beautiful, But to be constructively Critisistic... (erm.. what?) I would say that a combination of 1.0's legs and 4.0's body would be nearly perfect, but keep the bent knees like 4.0
I think it would look perfect.

See, i thought the 1.0 legs looked fine back then, but looking at this image http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=CAAO0150.jpg2 1.0's legs are pretty damn wrong, i made them more from what i thought they looked like rather than what they actually look like.

Yeah, to begin with i was kind of going for a brutish muscular Scrab, it had wider shoulders, but they've been cut down a bit, maybe i'll go back to the rest of it and un musclify it in the future...
Also, the legs are in a sort of default position, kind of a scrab t-pose i suppose, it should make rigging easier should i choose to try and rig it. Once it's rigged, the legs should be able to be posed in to a more natural position...;)

P.S sorry for any spelling mistakes, the amount of times i hit the wrong key while typing this was ridiculous.

I've started modelling a scrab in plastecine. Want to eventually get some clay and model it properly, with more control, but for now I'm just practicing on plastecine just to see if I'm any good. If I do get round to modelling it in clay, I'll get it fired and painted to make it look all nice and 'real' (depending on whether my 'talent' will take it to that level or not) :)

Only just started the torso so far. Been using this as a reference. http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAAO0020.jpg1

Nice work there Gibbons, but you really ought to make your own thread for that.:D

If I get anymore done, i'll be sure to start my own thread

Good work on the sculpt, it'll be great if you can make a full model, you should totally go ahead an make it!;)

Also...my first retopologised Scrab is up, not rendered in the same program as the others, so the perspective is slightly different...oh and as it says...temporary texture:p

very impressed

Phantasos 09-02-2010 04:55 PM

Digital sculpting software I attempted once, couldn't get to grips with it, so this is extremely impressive stuff for me to look at ;)

Why thank you guys!

@Phantasos, it just requires practice, as you can see from the first revision of my scrab to the last...

Ok, i'll try give some feedback tomorrow. It will be hard, because now it's looking really nice :)

Edit:
___________

Strange... on LP textured model proportions looks ok, but on 4th sculpt screen (with whole beast) head looks too big...

The beak and feet should be pointier. I don't know if you can do that in a sculpting tool.

For some reason the textured Scrab looks like candy or something to me, now I'm hungry.
