I never understood fears of clowns, purely because I think they're awesome. What is it you don't like about them? I'm curious.

I dunno. I just don't like them. Aside from that old woman at the Circus Berlin.

Dixanadu 08-21-2010 02:30 PM

Arachnophobia.

I think its the fear of clowns in horror movies or are made to look scary not like kids ones.

Josh 08-21-2010 02:55 PM

Horror Movie clowns don't bother me. Just those freaky-ass smiley freaks.

scrabface 08-21-2010 03:00 PM

I had no idea people had phobias like me. I wonder if anyone else has my kind of phobia?

Josh 08-21-2010 03:35 PM

Mr.Spandexpants 08-21-2010 03:43 PM

I was actually going to go a phobia school for this, cos apparently it helped my sister's friend who has the exact same problem... But they dont have any classes :( Or at least they didnt when I had time. Now Chris is coming, so I wont have time for em at all.

But yea... My sister enjoys taking me to parties and out clubbing. But to be honest, I really dread them. Sometimes I end up all alone, amongst all these people, stressing out because I don't know what to do. Meanwhile my sister is having fun conversations with all of them. She sometimes forgets about me, but she doesnt mean to.

Sometimes I see people going out for a big night and feel jealous. It happens fairly often, because I live near a big clubbing/bar precinct. Then I remember how much I hate that sort of thing; I get bored sitting at bars and clubs and only end up hanging out with people I already know. I'm way too shy to introduce myself to strangers and not near slutty-looking enough for people to come and introduce themselves to me.

Also, you might find this interesting.

I have a fear of heights, and also a fear of drowning. Part of the problem is that I can't swim.

GABBITS OWN 08-21-2010 09:52 PM

Dipstikk 08-24-2010 01:07 PM

The only phobia that has managed to terrify me beyond rationality is basically the prospect that I will die one day and there's nothing I can do to stop it from happening. The idea of just losing awareness and everything being extinguished, not being able to interact with anything for an eternity is the scariest thing I can imagine.

It causes a mild panic attack at its worst, but it's strong enough to keep me from sleeping (and manifests most often when I'm trying to get to sleep)- my room is dark and I'm lying on my bed in a certain way and the whole thing feels like I'm in a coffin.

Man I didn't want to turn this into two paragraphs.

Hazel-Rah 08-24-2010 01:25 PM

And you don't want to fall asleep because you're afraid you won't wake up? Yep, all living things fear their death, best to abandon that line of inquiry. :(

OddjobAbe 08-24-2010 01:29 PM

I find the idea of death comforting. It's like on a working day, where when I finally get home, I like a good kip. The only thing that worries me is whether I'm, wrong or not about what happens to me when I'm dead. If one of these religions turns out to be correct, and I am wrong, I'm going to suffer for it for all eternity.

What scares me is the idea of losing control of myself. I panic enough when I suffer from sleep paralysis, but what scares me just as much, if not more, is losing control of my mind. I am terrified of getting dementia or something of the sort.
