Well; to be fair, I think a release of AO on the iPhone will be justified as long as it helps fund an entirely new Oddworld game, however...its still annoying having to wait even longer for them to produce a new game. >.< Like Jordan said; its a bit of a cocktease. :/

AO has too many button commands to be properly ported to the iPhone. Have you tried playing COD Zombies on an iPhone? Imagine the experience from that but 10 times worse.

Anyway if they do something on the Iphone I really hope it won't be Iphone exclusive but also available on other smart phones (android and windows).

Anyone think it's likely that if Oddworld is coming to iPhone that gamespeak will be handled by actually speaking into the iPhone's microphone? I think it's a pretty nifty idea but there would be many problems surrounding it.
|
Like playing in public :p
|
:
Well it will be interesting to see if Oddworld really does come to iPhone. But I hope it isn't a remake. There's not much point in playing the same old games just on a different platform with unreliable controls. |
:
Actually, come to think of it, I swear the game is actually going to be impossible to play on the iPhone. Given how complex some puzzles become and how quick-witted you need to be with the controls. The iPhone can't handle gaming properly as it is, to think, sprinting, rolling, chanting (lol if that's voice recognition implemented). I dunno, we'll see! :fuzmad::fuzconf::fuzsad: Edit: Also the fact JAW+Abe have been tweeting via iPhone may be an indirect or direct clue. Maybe the same iPhone they tweeted from has been used to test the game?! |
I think JAW has been tweeting via iPhone is purely because they have one.

Is this amazing news, i can't wait untill release.
What do you think the price will be? |
I'm gonna say Twenty moolah(s).
I believe they said somewhere that the prices were going to be more around the $9.99 - $19.99 mark. Which in one way is excellent news, but in another means they won't be excitingly large games. |

If the port is happening, i'm a bit worried about the controls because let's face it. Iphone game have rubbish controls.
|
Not always. Games that try to emulate controllers have bad controls.
I believe that if an Oddwolrd game were to be released on Iphone, it would utilise the touch/motion controls and be clever in it's doing so. |
Oh I see, like the Sonic 1 Port?

No. That would be trying to emulate a controller and not, form the way you've used the game, utilising the iPhone control scheme.

Also I loathe how many people have iPhones. |
Why do you have to repeat yourself?
I only loathe iPhones when people use them to show-off. |
I have to repeat myself because people don't listen. And because people don't listen, I have to repeat myself.
:
Anyway, all jokes aside, this thread should not become a platform war. Discuss the possibility of an Oddworld iPhone app, not the relative quality of iPhones in and of themselves. |
:
(fake mouth farts counts as cheating!) |
Mmm, I don't see a port working for Iphone because it's such a hard thing ot do to re make the controls. I can see a mini game being made maybe the long awaited sligstorm? But no, not Ao / AE
|
:
And I think the port will be very interesting and it could work but they'll have to do a lot of changes to make it work for Iphone as we've said. don't get your hopes up for a New Oddworld Just for Iphone and a Oddworld mini-game will really not work. |
I can't see AO working on any touch based device. Some of the puzzles simply require too much speed to accuratly get through on a (sometimes not completely registering) touch screen. Imagine playing through the last level or the temple finale's. That's already a lot of button bashing on a controler or a keyboard, and they want to port that to a touch screen? Nuh-uh. Not gonna work.
If they are developing something for the iPhone I think it will be a completely new project, not simply a port. It might be released under the name Abe's Oddysee, but it will be a completely new game with new puzzles and new gameplay. Pretty much like MO for the gameboy. Same title, completely different game. |
:
What is this with Oddworld's apparent obsession with portable gaming? I never thought of Oddworld as a way to multitask or kill spare time. |
