Think: Halliburton and Blackwater. You really don't think the Glukkons would be in to that? |
According to the laws of the contemporary narrative; If there was a war, the victor would be decided via deus ex machina, ultimately making the size and/or strength of either side irrelevant.
Where does that come from?
Pretty much every sci-fi/fantasy war story ever made.

But yes, I'm sure if a war did come along that was run by either some kind of Glukkon government or an unlucky individual, I wouldn't put it past the military outlets to barely contain their excitement as they form a hidden cartel themselves and fix a ridiculously high price. Something tells me 'patriotism' wouldn't be strong amongst the Glukkons, and their selfish nature may even cripple the war efforts noticeably, as they dig for profits. I wish we knew a little more about the Glukkon government. |

No point, we can discuss it here of over in the other glukkons thread.
If you think about it guys, if the glukkons started war, they would probably use scrubs as grunts and cannon fodder any way |
It's more likely they'd use Sligs. Slig Barracks has stockpiled military surplus for years due to Dripik's own vices. If anything, the Magog is over-militarized and would be perfectly capable of waging and winning a war if their leaders weren't all so incompetent.
The Glukkons are clearly anarcho-capitalists, they don't waste money on military surplus and that's why they have such nice things :P
They don't waste money on military surplus? Have you seen the Slig Barracks?
It's just a local militia, peanuts compared to some of our free standing armies.
Of course as you suggested we don't really know if the Glukkons wage war with beings from other parts of Oddworld. |
Seems to me that both the Magog Cartel and the Vykers Conglomerate are more than capable of war, if necessary. IS it necessary, though? If all they have to worry about are the already enslaved Mudokons, then they don't need to start any wars, and if there are any other species with the resources and the inclination to start a war, then we don't know about them, making this discussion complete and utter speculation.
Whew! |

You've been around long enough to know better. |
I think that an large scale oddworld war could never take place simply because every army we have seen is led by an incompetent clutz! Look at the siege of last legs, defence was pants, And General Drippik well, he can barely remember his own name.
They're small in the scheme of things. A full scale Oddworld war would be absurd because it would take ages to transport people around.

Has anyone thought of Wolvarks? I know they are mercenaries, but what if they had a place in any army? Those huge ships over Last Legs could have easily laid waste to any city on Earth.
Yeah, until someone throws a rock up and pops the balloon that keeps it afloat. Even the massive motherships look damn defenceless against modern interceptors. It definitely looks huge and intimidating, but it's only sitting there not doing much.
Those were balloons? O_O
But even without those things, Wolvarks have a wider range of classes. For example, a semi auto. |
They're all airships.
But what about those Shock Tanks, they must be good for something.
It's hard to compare earth forces to oddworld forces though because we are so different.
You have to take into account mercenaries, industrialists, natives and raiders. In industrialism I guess sligs have slig copters, slig tanks, mine cars could probably bet souped up but they also have fly boy corps, legions of sligs. Mercs have foot soldiers ready to take on most ground forces but seem to lack and air force or a heavy division. Natives are obviously barely able to construct a decent fighting force due to numbers and weaponry but I think a rag tag guerilla force that scavenged weapons from slig teams could stage a decent offense as an IRA type force Raiders (like outlaws) seem to be good as gangs but too dimwitted to be taken seriously. |
Oddworld technology is so poor and mostly hugely space and time consuming to build and use. Sometimes seemingly like certain factories are so big for the sake of just taken up space to harm the environment. However Oddworld has quite different technology, like levitating devices, energy based tools, teleportation devices, and ambient magic. I suppose their knowledge of space-time and gravitational commercial usage is far more advance and extensive than anything on Earth. However our Organization and Intelligence is...astronomical in comparison.

A slig army would be dissorganised and clumsy.
quite so
Makes you wonder why those Mudokons were so casually going about their daily business when the other side of the village should have raised the alarm several minutes ago.
Also makes you wonder why none of those sligs where given guns and would appear to be ready to fight HtH
