You say that like there is something wrong with being a pedophile.

Don't get on OANST's bad side. He has followers.

OANST 07-22-2010 11:36 AM

This isn't going to end well for anyone.

crimsonxking 07-22-2010 11:37 AM

I'm just playing around. For serious, I'll try not to step on anyone's toes. I have no intention of derailing any thread with my personal hobbies, which are far wider and greater than just anime.

Sekto Springs 07-22-2010 11:38 AM

You're already cool in my book. <3

Wings of Fire 07-22-2010 11:39 AM

Tohsaka fucking Rin!

I've got a figurine of her too.

Wings of Fire 07-22-2010 11:42 AM

Same!

She's so cool!

Sekto Springs 07-22-2010 11:45 AM

You both have her action figure?
*sigh* It's going to be a long thread.

Josh 07-22-2010 11:46 AM

I like this person. Now we just need another Anime geek and we can have our own OFW Anime Club!

Funny. I had a similar thought in my head when Sekto Springs said "action figure".

Sekto Springs 07-22-2010 11:53 AM

Sorry. "Inaction figure" is more accurate.

Significantly.

Not that I actually care or anything. haha ha ha ... ha.

Sekto Springs 07-22-2010 11:59 AM

I'm a big fan of Todd McFarlane's work, but his toys can hardly be called "action figures".
I call them that anyway though, because "figurine" sounds kind of... gay.

Wings of Fire 07-22-2010 12:04 PM

The line itself is called figma, call them highly articulated display figures or something.

Action figures sounds gayer than figurines.

They have plenty of action. I've never seen another toy company who's figures break so nicely.

crimsonxking 07-22-2010 12:05 PM

I normally use either figure or figurine. I don't know why I do this, but it's become a habit for me to refer to the male figures as "figures" and female figures as "figurines", even if both terms technically work with both of them.

No, no, no, no.
Figma is something completely different. Figma is a specific type of figurine. The type with the ball joints and sometimes movable arms or parts and most of the time they are smaller, less detailed, and cheaper.

I only own a KOS-MOS (Xenosaga) and Aigis (Persona 3) figma. Everything else I have is a real $50-80 figurine.

edit: Sorry for the double post. I wasn't thinking.

You're right, actually.

My point exactly. They're meant to be posed once and then left on your shelf to collect dust.

Wings of Fire 07-22-2010 12:11 PM

I'd like to say I'd never pay over $50 for a figma, but three of my figma (Miku Hatsune, Kirisame Marisa and Signum Yagami) are all rare and gotten off eBay.

So umm yeah.

Ridg3 07-22-2010 12:12 PM

And then eventually fall off the shelf for absolutely no reason. I think I still have that Medusa head, with her rubber snake hair. The rest is long gone.

I don't really like figmas. The ball-joints and overall lower quality bug me. But I know a lot of people really like them. But the way I figure it, if I am spending money on a plastic recreation of an anime character, I might as well stop pretending I have better things to do with my money and just go for the good/big stuff.

I tell myself I'm a collector so I can sleep at night.

This isn't my first forum.

Sekto Springs 07-22-2010 12:17 PM

I shelled out a pretty penny for that gigantic statue of a Sentinel from The Matrix. The stand broke on the first day, and over the course of several years it lost several of it's tentacles and robotic arms.

I have a nice collection of Spawn toys that are still in mint though.

Wings of Fire 07-22-2010 12:17 PM

Well, I bought a PG Gundam kit recently for over $200 but I sleep at night by telling myself that's a once in a lifetime purchase.

I'm a poor student you know!

Sekto Springs 07-22-2010 12:18 PM

Fuck... the money you people spend on this shit. Give the money to me instead.

I still have that original Violator figure. The bendy action is all worn out, so he's like a head with noodle limbs.

crimsonxking 07-22-2010 12:20 PM

The most I've ever spent on one is $80, but I'm not against spending more.

I loved the color on that one, or lack thereof. Nostaaaaalgiaaaa.
I remember I also used to have a red one.
