now its all coming to light.

and those lego sets can get pretty complex for a child. i would assume its getting the right pieces in the right places, otherwise you'll be fucked when a certain element you mistakenly used for something else is needed somewhere else. i assume.

enchilado 12-17-2009 04:41 PM

I always got the pieces in the right places. I remember when I was about twelve watching a friend putting a Bionicle together, and he totally sucked at it. He was older than me, too.

I felt sorry for him :(

Wil 12-17-2009 04:44 PM

Wait, is this the Medieval Village set that includes a turkey?

enchilado 12-17-2009 04:52 PM

http://castle.lego.com/en-us/Products/Castle/10193.aspx

WICKED!

I read on one site that turkeys weren't present in Medieval Britain, but neither were trolls, dragons or dwarves.

Methinks this isn't Medieval Britain at all.

If that's the set you got her, OANST, then by God I'm jealous!

Wil 12-17-2009 05:02 PM

Everyone knows that turkeys, trolls, dragons and dwarves are all New World organisms.

enchilado 12-17-2009 05:06 PM

I was thinking more along the lines that it's FANTASY.

Wings of Fire 12-17-2009 05:14 PM

I disupte the historical accuracy of that scene.

MA 12-17-2009 05:25 PM

yeah, not enough turkeys are being thrown.

Based on the numbers of trolls, dragons and dwarves in the scene?

enchilado 12-17-2009 05:38 PM

No, based on the numbers of trolls, dragons and dwarves in the other sets of the Castle series: http://castle.lego.com/en-us/Products/default.aspx

EDIT: Note also Skeletons and their undead steads.

Wil 12-17-2009 05:52 PM

Yeah, skeletons don't really exist.

enchilado 12-17-2009 05:54 PM

You win. It's all real after all.

Wings of Fire 12-17-2009 05:58 PM

I dispute the historial accuracy of the scythe as a viable weapon for combat.

Everything else in that scene looks fine to me, I like how authentic the warlock's hat is.

Wil 12-17-2009 05:58 PM

Well obviously if you stand them up and make them walk around with weapons in their hands. Might as well glue your Town buildings to the ceiling in an attempt to discredit Lego's respect for physics.

Who said the skeleton (or the person who was reduced to a skeleton) was a warrior? The shield was probably to protect the farmer from small dragons that made their nests in punctured tennis balls left in the fields by rogue conservationists.

Everything seems in order there...

enchilado 12-17-2009 07:43 PM

I GIVE UP UR AL SO MEEN

Wil 12-18-2009 06:19 AM

Lego people's legs don't bend like that, not unless you partially melt them. I call shenanigans.

OANST 12-18-2009 06:47 AM

She was helping. We built it together. This one was fairly complicated, though.+

That is the set, yes.

enchilado 12-18-2009 08:35 PM

Wow! She is one lucky girl! You don't even want to know what I would've done to get this set when I was six.

Sekto Springs 12-18-2009 08:47 PM

Happy Birthday, you small thing.

Mat, be sure to show her this thread years from now. When she's old enough to not be emotionally scarred by her father's exposing her to a forum full of potentially dangerous internet persons.

enchilado 12-18-2009 09:24 PM

What, me? Potentially dangerous?

Nate 12-18-2009 10:42 PM

I'm pretty sure he was talking about WoF.

Wings of Fire 12-18-2009 10:45 PM

I'm good with children.

Nate 12-18-2009 11:07 PM

"Hey kid, want a lolly?"

shaman 12-19-2009 03:43 AM

Oh by the way WOF, the answer is yes, you can buy my big, white, windowless van with great central locking and a duped registration.

Taco 12-19-2009 03:50 AM

Who's Abbey? Oh and happy birthday

MA 12-19-2009 06:14 AM

GET OUT

YOU'RE NOT SINCERE

Hell, You don't want to know what I did for it. I'll tell you, anyway. Full. Time. Job. I know. I know. I'm as disgusted as the rest of you.

Nate 12-19-2009 05:19 PM

Both of my parents had Full. Time. Jobs. by the time I was six. I still wouldn't have gotten that set.

Aside from anything, my dad would have pointed to the massive pile of random, brightly coloured lego in the rumpus room and said "Can't you just build a castle with that?
