You know, I really love Australia, I truly do. But sometimes the guys in charge really do dick around.

Just Michael Atkinson is being a douchebag. Unfortunately, the rules state that they need unanimous support to make the change.

I feel sorry for Australians. Whenever a new game comes out, the regulators in that country go apeshit and try to get rid of the slightest hint of blood.

But god forbid games can have an adult rating. I never understood why movies like Saw get a 17+ rating or even 18+ in some countries, but as soon as a game comes along with pixel blood, not even that 18+ rating is good enough anymore. What gives? :S

Exactly. You shouldn't try to criticise developers for creating a violent game that could fall in to the hands of a child, let the parents vet what their kids are playing. Besides, I saw loads of stuff rated 16 or 18 when I was 12, and I'm fine(ish).

Games are a visceral experience. Especially when a game is first person, it requires personal relfexes and emotions to fuel the experience of a game (as opposed to the static nature of film, which you have no control over). To put it into context, imagine when these games start to get released with use of the upcoming Project Natal controller. Even I would ban GTA if it had Project Natal support.

I'm Australian! I hate violent games but. Actually I just hate games. 'Cept Oddworld and Age of Empires, and a few others. Mostly I dislike them.

I'm quit pleased with the outcome of Left for Dead 2. I pre-ordered it (on steam) and even with this crappy-non-violentness it's still pretty fun.

I play both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 which has just been released. 2 is awesome so far.
