That said, I did climb Uluru when I was too young to know better. My resulting lack of soul may well explain a lot about me.

So how does it feel like not having a soul anymore? I'd sure like to know  I'd still want to climb Uluru..

Sometimes, I want to visit Chernobyl, if I can ever afford an anti-radiation suit if such a thing exists. Other times I want to see Japan, minus the chopsticks. And once, I wanted to go to Cairo. USA is always on the list. A life-supporting planet outside of our solar system would be awesome too.

The places I have been to include: Denmark, England, Germany, Argentina, Chile, USA and some other places I'm forgetting.

The only place I'm going anytime is next year, in Florida.

Climbing it is incredibly insulting to the Aboriginal people who revere the rock as a sacred artifact. Aside from them discouraging you from climbing it simply because you're a nice person and don't want to offend them, they say that the result of you climbing it is losing your soul. They're more than happy for you to visit it and appreciate the wonder of Uluru visually.

I too climbed Uluru. That probably explians why I joined the forums.

Wait. Don't taking photograghs also destroy your soul.

:

-You may be familiar with the belief that some aboriginal tribes hold. It's the concept that a photo might steal a part of your soul. What are your thoughts on that, as someone who gets his picture
taken for a living?

-Well, I guess I would have to answer your question with another question. How many "abo-digitals" do you see modeling?

That quote is referring to the lower-case, dictionary definition of 'aboriginal', rather than referring specifically to Australian Aboriginals. I've not heard of that belief stated with regard to Aboriginal beliefs but there were 200 tribes, so anything is possible. Yes, I know it's from Zoolander, but it is a well known belief so I'm responding seriously.

On the other hand, they really don't like it when there are photos or video footage of Aboriginal people who are dead. To the point that the ABC actually has a warning before shows if they may show archival footage.

I laughed. How about you guys?

Majic 09-24-2009 09:52 AM

I've been to the US, and... the US. Shit, aside from a couple trips to Colorado, Florida and Arkansas I've only only really traveled around Texas and Oklahoma. Granted Texas is still a big ass hunk of land that takes shits the size of most European countries, but aside from the urban locales it's just a bunch of (sometimes) scenic landscape, sans west Texas of course. West Texas blows. I went out to Lubbock to visit some of my Texas Tech friends one time, and got a lifetime's worth of vacant nothingness.

Where am I going? I'll make it out to Europe someday. I'd like to see Australia. And I'll make it out to the rest of the US states one by one whenever there's a music festival/electronica event worth the trip.
