Five year olds already do it, and they don't hide it either.

Sex ed made me hate dicks for quite a long while.... They showed these icky, realistic drawing of wrinkly penises overgrown with hair in all states of arousal. It was quite a traumatic experience and to this day I'm still quite miffed about dicks. They are quite ugly. Sorry males.
I do like guys though, not to be misunderstood. |
GOOD GOD I AM A TERRIBLE MASTURBATOR
NO MOM IM JUST CHANGING NO, TAKING A SHOWER RIGHT NOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY ISNT WEIRD, GOD edit: NO THE TOWEL WAS ALWAYS THAT WAY I DONT KNOW WHAT THOSE STAINS ARE another edit: i remember reading that you can masturbate as early as infancy. And I was masturbating before I even had semen in mah balls. Orgasms. They were different though. |
I masturbated through my whole life, but I think I only realized what I was doing when I was at least 14... I was a very sheltered kid.. Not cos people told me it was bad, but It never sparked any interest in me... I'm quit passive about sexual stuff..
I think that forcing it upon kids isn't going to do shit. Why can't people just let it flow naturally and not make such a big deal out of it. People should just accept that its normal and nothing to be ashamed of. I'm looking forward to the day where it legal to go naked on the street. |

As for the original topic, I suspect they're not teaching the 5 year olds about how to masturbate, rather mentioning it to them that it's something that happens. I also think that part of the problem is the granularity of the age ranges. 5-8 is too young to teach about masturbation in detail but if a school leaves it to the last moment in the 9-12 age bracket, they're too late. If I were writing this report, I would structure it as "By the age of 10, a kid should know X, by the age of 12, a kid should know Y, by the age of 14, a kid should know Z", which avoids the age ranges and deliberate misunderstandings from Fox News. |
The reason why kids' perception of sex is so messed up:

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I WAS FOUR
|
Absolutely, anime is the root cause of all the worlds evils.
|
And also the solution methinks.

You read my mind good sir.

Eureka 7 - the good
Bleach - the bad FLCL - the hilarious |
I think all children should watch Neon Genesis Evangelion as part of their sexual education, it taught me so much about gender roles, the stress caused by a girls period, parental roles and lots and lots of penetration.
|
Same with me, only with FLCL.
|
FLCL fucked up my sexuality too though. Now I can't get off unless my partner has a pink wig and a guitar.
|
FLCL taught me that it's alright to be manipulated and fucked around by a hot alien who likes sexually assaulting you as long as she lets you rest your head in her bosom towards the climax.
It also gave me a healthy respect for the dangers of motorbike driving. |

I can't get off unless I have cardboard guitar sticking out of my forehead. |
Fuck yes, Lazytown.

FLCL is great.

And on the topic at hand- I believe exposing children that young to sex in any form is a bad idea. Yes they may well touch whatever body parts they wish anyway, but they don't know why. Explaining it to them...just opens up problems in my eyes. Leave sex ed as it is, don't make it any earlier. Not for childhood innocence or whatever but simply to avoid problems- you get a kid knowing about the workings of sex so young, their interest in it will be induced earlier, potentially leading to more underage sex issues. |

Some Japanese videogames contain hardly any facial expressions.
|
That's because they all look the same to you.

Also black people and grasshoppers.

And snowflakes.
