Why won't Sydman or Abe the babe reply and say what they think??

Sydney 11-14-2001 04:03 AM

Like Abe Babe said, there could be some people who, just for laughs, try to earn black stars and a spam title. If we were to follow through in this direction, I suppose people would have to agree that they would not respond to any topics posted by a Spammer, and generally ignoring their replies.

As for defining spam, as others have said, it's anything that doesn't contribute to the discussion. There's nothing wrong with one-sentence posts as long as they aren't excessive or say nothing. A lot can be said with a simple string of text, particularly if it's a joke.

Yeah I know that, I edit my posts all the time. So whatd'ya think about the spam forum? I know it's immature but people can just go crazy and have fun without getting in trouple. Example. (someone's topic in spam forum)

Okay frst of ll I'd like to say am sorry if I ever have spammed! Okay so thats out the way hopefully!
Now I think we should like Munchy said give them the title spammer and give them black stars! If they spam only like once and they didn't mean to then they get let off! But if they do it bad then well ban them!
But check they have any siblings that come here! Because if yo ban thier IP address wouldn't you ban the other sibling that comes on too?? Any way I think this is a great way of deciding how spammers get punished! But thats just me so don't pay any atention, no body does any way!

Ugh, the other sibling, should have an account for themselves.

abe22 11-16-2001 03:29 AM

I like the idea of the spammer forum but some people might just post there to get their post count up have you thought of that?

General Drippik 11-16-2001 04:29 AM

Yeah, that's what's so good about it!!

Yes, they should have an account for themselves, which most do, but he was talking about IP addresses which are different. I won't explain now because I have to go to school soon.

Well, in response to Sydney, if people spam to get black stars ban them - simple - just like what you would do to people spamming to get bronze stars!

General Drippik 11-16-2001 09:28 PM

So your telling me, if you ban someone, everyones account for the forums is banned?

Cloverfield 11-16-2001 10:04 PM

The trouble with a spam forum is this:

If there is a forum where people are allowed to spam, all of those worthless spam posts are counted against a user's post count. So you might see someone with 2000 posts pretty quickly just because they have spammed too much.

The post levels are mainly for a bit of fun, but it's not fair to have "allowed spam" listed under the post count.

There is a forum software out there that you could do this with... it's called vBulletin and it has a feature where you can have a forum that posts aren't counted to the post count.

However I have yet to see a UBB hack that allows for this.

Abe Babe...

General Drippik 11-16-2001 10:17 PM

Yeah, when I started reading your post Abe Babe I thought about the NoN PosT CounT thing, but now you say that, My hopes go STRAiGHT D0own......
