4-5 of Palin & Jones' Ripping Yarns
I almost forgot about that. Tomkinson's Schooldays had me in stitches, but my favorite was the Eric Oathwaite one. The bit where they're on about the Spear and Jackson shovel breaking was excellent.

Wings of Fire 07-09-2009 03:21 PM

I liked My Family :(.

Fuzzle Guy 07-09-2009 03:23 PM

Me too. There's nothing wrong with it.

OddjobAbe 07-09-2009 03:28 PM

It's very predictable, and that makes it terribly weak. Each to his own, I believe the matter is, but I myself thought that it was a complete piece of shit.

Wings of Fire 07-09-2009 03:31 PM

Nick Harper was one of my heroes when I was growing up :( stop ruining my childhood!

Alright then, yes. There was something wrong with it. That.

But I didn't think it was a complete piece of shit.

My childhood was ruined as soon as Harry Corbett died :( Others must feel the pain

Two can play at your game. You and you emoticons.

I'll admit, I'll turn it on if I want a light atmosphere, but I don't recall ever having laughed at the show.

I don't think My Family is a terrible show. It's just unoriginal. How many shows have you seen with the lazy, disinterested husband and the shrieking harridan wife who argue all the time and refuse to ever concede any ground, even when they know they're wrong?

Pilot 07-09-2009 08:56 PM

Slapstick guys. If it's not an intelligent semidrama, my comedy is slapstick. Followed closely by real-life-observation (cough Seinfeld)

Leslie Nielsen FTW.

Wings of Fire 07-09-2009 08:59 PM

Surely you can't be serious?

I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

Ah Airplane.

Comedy Gold!

Have you ever noticed how many modern comedies have ripped off little tidbits from Airplane? Jesus H. Christ... STOP ALREADY!

Arrested Development, motherfuckers.

This, along with Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Munch's Master 07-10-2009 03:20 AM

Ah yes, Airplane and the Naked Gun films. Possibly the best American comedy movies I've ever seen.

YAY! Someone else who has actually seen Ripping Yarns! Those 2 are 2 of my favs too, but I'm also partial to Golden Gordon (possibly cause I can relate to it) and Murder at Moorstones Manor. Escape From Stalagluft 112B is good too.

I have them on the DVD set. It's a shame really that there's only 5 that are good. There were 10 in total I think- 5 good, 1 average, 4 crap.

NelspikeTX 07-10-2009 06:40 AM

Gato Fedorento > All that.

Yeah, I'm a crazy fan. As well as 80% of my country. =P They're a Portuguese group of comediants, and I must say, they're REALLY good. The older generations don't usually like them.

Problem is, it's 100% Portuguese, else I'd show you guys. =P

Wings of Fire 07-10-2009 06:45 AM

Subtitles?

I liked all of them apart from the Crossing the Andes by Frog one. That one was terrible.

MeechMunchie 07-10-2009 09:16 AM

I'm adding Peep Show, The Day Today, The IT Crowd, Flight of the Conchords and Father Ted. I am also going to specify 'quizcoms' to QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, Shooting Stars and Would I Lie to You?, but not 8 Out of 10 Cats.

OddjobAbe 07-10-2009 09:17 AM

I really like Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

I really like Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

That's something I could never get into. I always preferred Have I Got News for You or Mock the Week.

Jonathan Ross is one of my favourites. I met him last night! Then I woke up =(

Anonyman! 07-10-2009 11:21 AM

I like black comedy, dry comedy, and surreal comedy.

I still have Monty Python's Flying Circus somewhere around here.

MeechMunchie 07-10-2009 12:22 PM

Classic. My hovercraft is full of eels! And I love:

Fucker you best be joking.

Wings of Fire 07-10-2009 02:19 PM

The middle guy is how I imagine Anonyman at his computer screen.

Anonyman! 07-10-2009 02:21 PM

Facial expression? Yeah.

Appearance? No.

Wings of Fire 07-10-2009 02:22 PM

Well you're half something.

/Racially insensitive.

Anonyman! 07-10-2009 02:28 PM

My maternal grandparents are both from Central America.

Wings of Fire 07-10-2009 02:37 PM

And so the mystery of Anonyman the Faceless begins to unravel.

Also apologies if I've offended you in any way.

Anonyman! 07-10-2009 03:03 PM

Nope, you insecure white person.
