And I've never read the books nor seen the film, however I know a number of people who either like it or are obsessed with it. A classmate was telling me about a friend of theirs who has memorized the book, and can basically recite it to herself. That's just disturbing.

I thought the movie was kind of weird, and surreal... especialy since everyone who lived there was rich and all the kids had expensive cars, yet it took place in a small town were the only job was probably farming, and mining stuff.

I think I heard on the news a few weeks ago that Meyer did blatantly rip off one of her friends works to produce Twilight, and that's why the sequels are, incredulously, worse.
