As for the bit about the Muds, Gluks, and Sligs, I don't quite understand you. Are you saying that they aren't related to those creatures because of skeleton structure or some other bit on biology? Sorry, but I didn't get that last paragraph. Well, seriously, it's a videogame. A fictional videogame. I don't think it really matters that Oddworld has walking octopus gorillas that evolved from invertebres.

Yes, as Max said, it's an interesting topic that gets you thinking, good mental excercise suppose.
My point was it would be difficult to envision Muds, Gluks and Sligs being that closely related, considering the Gluks are closely related to the invertebrate Gloktigi, yet both evolving an endoskeleton that works in almost exactly the same way seems almost an impossible coincedence. Thus why BM is infuriated, such difficulties as this when trying to sort out the Oddworldian tree of life in your head. Lack of species to use could also make life awkward.

And somewhat infuriating. I often wish they had been designed the same way as Nemo-Ramjet's Snaiad.

As in, designed with their evolutionary history in mind to link up, or...?
I watch Nemo on DA. Snaiad's very impressive.

Nemo-Ramjet painstakingly evolved each species through its entire ancestry with its ecosystem (and therefore other species he was evolving) in mind. Their weird morphology wasn't just designed on a whim, there's a very good reason for it, which is explained on his site.

"from nostrils located under the armpits"

This reminds me of a quote from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy;

"They are unique in being the only race in history to have invented the aerosol deodorant before the wheel."

Which reminds me. Which oddworld races do you think are the smelliest?

Wil 03-10-2009 07:34 AM

Outlaws.

Chronicler 03-10-2009 09:09 AM

Hey, speaking of Outlaws, is there any idea on how they evolved? Anything about their ancient ancestry?

Humanoid Lizard Men make me think of dinosauric creatures, or atleast some thuggish reptiles. Same with Wolvarks, which could possibly be mammals though.

Wil 03-10-2009 09:15 AM

Nothing about their evolutionary history, but Lorne has said something about their social past. http://oddworldlibrary.net/oddblog/s...s_and_Stranger

Outlaws.

You're both idiots.

Stunkz.

AlexFili 03-10-2009 02:48 PM

What about Jo Momma?

Bullet Magnet 03-10-2009 02:59 PM

I don't recall her odour causing nearby olfactic organisms to dump the contents of their stomachs.

Wil 03-10-2009 05:41 PM

I wouldn’t describe Stunkz as a race.

Bullet Magnet 03-10-2009 06:11 PM

For the purposes of my claim, I would.

Crashpunk 03-12-2009 01:49 PM

whats the deal with Slurgs?

Jordan 03-12-2009 02:26 PM

Well, they're the useless creatures of Oddworld. Like... Slugs. They're a tasty treat for Paramites and provide an excellent "SQUICH" when stood on. Helpful for sleeping Fleeches. That's about all they do really.

Wil 03-12-2009 03:50 PM

Slurgs evolved from some kind of Slurg-like ancestor.

Bullet Magnet 03-12-2009 03:55 PM

They do have a queen, however, who is basically in charge of everything.
