I would actually love to play Sligstorm. It's the canceled game that interests me the most.

Yeah, to me it seems pretty interesting trying to figure out how a pantsless baby Slig would get out of there, and how the heck he'll survive once he escapes.

OANST 01-22-2009 12:45 PM

I would love to see them throw it together as a Live Arcade game. It would put them back in people's minds as they get ready to release their new stuff and shouldn't be all that costly.

Phylum 01-22-2009 02:40 PM

Sligstorm would be very fun to play. I can imagine having to sneak though factories to get to pants machines, or to just steal the pants from right under the slig :D

Venks 01-22-2009 02:41 PM

I never put much thought into what Squeek's Oddysee was about, but when I saw symbiotic I always remembered that picture of a bird and a rhino in a biology book. I always assumed Squeek being something small and insignificant like the bird, but without him the big rhino wouldn't be able to live.

Also due to my extreme love of Sligs I've also always wanted to see Sligstorm.

Nothing is known about Nod's Oddysee, except the hero will probably be called Nod.

:

The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot is a game that was thought to be an april fools joke, since an article said it would come out in 2004, but it never did.

:

Squeek's Oddysee was a planned story about a character called Squeek, who would be a hero, is low on the food chain and his species uses symbiosis. It wasn't known whenever this would be parasitic symbiosis like with an Oktigi, or mutualism, like with a clownfish and sea anemone.

SligStorm was to be a PS1 game that would've came along with the two first Oddworld games (Abe's Oddysee, Abe's Exoddus) in a combinated package. It would have followed the story of an albino slig grub or larva that needed to escape the slig birthing complex or be killed, since he was born as a mutant. It was planned to be made with the engine used in Abe's Oddysee, so it would've been like one of the Abe's Exoddus levels, probably with the larva like a crawling slig.

The game would have been as long as the level Slig Barracks in Abe's Exoddus, and would've featured about two minutes of cinematics.

Here is Information!

Didn't Lorne officially told us in an interview the fourth hero wasn't called nod?

Didn't Lorne officially told us in an interview the fourth hero wasn't called nod?

Yes. But there's nothing to stop us from dreaming.

Anyways, I remember reading an old post recently that spilled out some info about Fangus. Saying that Fangus (If it were to even be made at all) doesn't take place on Oddworld, but on a different planet where humans evolved from cats and dogs. Fangus is supposed to be a Bull Dog type guy, and the villians are invading cats from a Russian-esque place.

Xavier 01-25-2009 06:01 AM

Here's what Lorne said about that:

:

Nate: So it was meant to be on Oddworld though?

Lorne: It was a decision we had to make, we were waiting to say where. On the map, I knew where Fangus was happening. But I also wanted to give the crew a chance; there were a lot of people who were really excited about making their own game. So I gave them the ability to make their own game but they didn’t want to stick with this ‘crazy’ stuff, they wanted to go with some more human designs and I just lost interest. So I said that I was going let this run but if it’s going to be so human, it’s not going to be on Oddworld. What I really wanted to do was have it be on Oddworld but in a different location, where it would have its own mythology on the other side of the world. So… here are problems that happen in Alaska and those are things that take place in the Middle East. They really had nothing to do with one another.

I read somewhere ages ago that 'Squeek' was a codename of Meech's Oddysee, but the concepts of a meech dont look all that intelligent enough to have an epic journey escaping advanced technologies.

Nate 01-26-2009 03:28 PM

There will never be a game called Meech's Oddysee, simply because Meech is a species name, not a character name

stonetooth 01-28-2009 09:02 AM

I really wish hand of odd was a actual game. I would spend about an entire week playing it non stop, even if i did die... >_<

How do we even know what Meeches were truely? Yes we saw a picture and yes Rupture Farms slaughtered them to make Meech munchies very much related to Scrabs and Scrab Cakes and Paramites and Paramite Pies. With that in mind we assoceate that Meeches were wildlife like Paramites and Scrabs However we do not know any more details about Meeches except for some theroies.

So why not Meeches be a long lost race believed to be extinct and so odd that they look like animals but are actually some sort of race like Mudokins, Gluks etc.? I always thought Meeches were very small beings which makes them a cool race if they are symobiotic.

Paramiteabe...

:fuzblink:

Bullet Magnet 02-04-2009 02:26 PM

All the information we do have indicates a species that lived very much like the lions of the African Savannah, and about as intelligent.

paramiteabe 02-05-2009 11:57 AM

Where did that come from? I never heard of that.

Xavier 02-06-2009 02:06 AM

I think it's something Matt Lee (info@oddworld.com) told to a member of this forum.

Andrelvis 02-06-2009 02:15 AM

I would love to see the source code for Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus released. I bet people would make pretty damn cool things with it, like something akin to SligStorm perhaps.

We have a picture of a Meech. Also, there is some information about Meecharnia; everything seems to lead to them being creatures akin to Paramites and Scrabs.

there is?

Crashpunk 02-07-2009 09:51 AM

I would of thought Sligstorm would be a good game
i thought Squeek would be like a Meep :P
Nod sounds like a name for a Mug, it might be possible that he was Abe's best friend or somthing. Maby after the new movie/game oddworld might make these long lost games

Bullet Magnet 02-07-2009 03:06 PM

Nod. Is. Fake. Please cease and desist.

Nate 02-07-2009 03:12 PM

That isn't forum-canon until you've convinced Max of that fact.

Bullet Magnet 02-07-2009 03:31 PM

Sure, I'll get right on it. Right after I solve faster-than-light travel and come up with an equation to predict prime numbers!

Wil 02-07-2009 04:33 PM

Oh, I’m convinced. However, in naïver times my words were taken far too seriously and were passed on far beyond the confinement of the Oddworld Forums. Nod is one character whose name will not be dispelled for a long time. In 2053 when OWI releases the fourth Quintology title, thousands of fans will be on the streets protesting that they didn’t use the name Nod.

Nate 02-07-2009 05:21 PM

in naïver times
Like, two weeks ago when you mentioned to me how much it pissed you off that you couldn't find the interview where Lorne said that Nod was the character's name?

Wil 02-07-2009 05:25 PM

I never said it was an interview with Lorne, and the name did come from an interview that I would love to still have.

AlexFili 02-08-2009 04:30 AM

I've always wanted SligStorm to be finished. I really like the sligs, and think they are probably one of the best characters in the oddworld universe!

Can't wait for the other oddworld games in the future.

Hazel-Rah 02-09-2009 12:16 PM

I could imagine Squeek being similar to a rabbit, some normally harmless creature like Abe or Munch.

I'd like to Squeek's Odyssey more than any of the other cancelled projects because it's supposed to be the third game in the series, right?

Bullet Magnet 02-09-2009 03:18 PM

The third and first.

Slog Bait 02-15-2009 05:31 PM

I didn't think Squeek's Oddysee was cancelled, I just thought it was post-poned to a much later date so they could finish their current projects. o_o;

I always saw Squeek as something reptilious and snake-like, but able to glide short distances or something. I continued thinking that after I saw Munch's ability to swim. Or perhaps Squeek being a master at breaking and entering, since in pretty much all the games so far you've had to make a journey thoughout a massive land in order to find a way into a facility. All that, but completely defenseless.

Also, in future games, Munch needs to be able to swim underwater as well as on the surface.
