I heard someone mention that MGS4 was the first game to have uncompressed sound on a message board on Gamespot, I figured that meant that audio files had to be compressed to fit on a DVD so they couldn't reach their full potential? I probably shouldn't have mentioned that lol.

I would say that online connectivity is pretty much a standard feature on game consoles now, I mean all three systems are essentially internet ready out of the box and there really aren't many games that don't have atleast some sort of online feature whether it be downloadable content or leaderboards. First of all Microsoft shouldn't charge you for Xbox Live, but you could tell they're really pushing XBL I mean the system comes with everything you need to go online except a subscription card, and don't they offer XBL Silver for free or something?

PSN is great by the way, and I think that Home is a step in the right direction they're giving you something to do besides just play your games online it makes it easier to make more friends to play games with. Plus being able to browse the web is a nice feature, even the Dreamcast let you do that so every next gen system should allow it.

Downloadable content would certainly cut production costs but Wings of Fire suggested it would put a lot of people out of work, and do you think that now after we're all used to paying $60 a game that developers will really want to lower the price of their software? Also there are plenty of people like Leto who want to have something tangible for their money.

Micro$oft's online is still great, though, and Alternating your next game purchase for a subscription card once a year doesn't seem unreasonable.

I have no idea how anyone could find home interesting. It's like The Sims from some sellout Christian gamer company.
Still, Sony is the only company still to have free online on their console, so good on them.

My console died and I am feeling sad. Seriously, I'm confused as to what I am supposed to do about myself.

Mac Sirloin 01-15-2009 06:27 PM

I miss our conversations.

I beat Banjo though, going for all the Jiggies and Jinjos now.

Home is second life without the sex, furries, rickrolls, flying penises, mass-trolling, furries, nudity, fetishes, furries, christians handing out virtual bibles, furries, and people who role-play being pregnant.

Seriously, I uninstalled that fucker after my first session.

I've worked retail too for a while, I know what I saw. Our store got games from the distributor for about 30 to 45 euro's and sold for 60 to 70.

And I don't mean 100% profit I mean that the price doubled. 100% of 30 bux = 30 bux. 30 + 30 = 60.

Xbox beats Ps3 in online, considering actual experience. Sure ps3 is (currently) free, but from what I hear it's not nearly as good as XLive.

But as for looks and power, Ps3 will have the edge when developers manage to maximize it's power. As a point of comparison, when developers managed to max out the original Xbox power with Halo 2, it looked almost as good as Halo 3 does on the 360. Imagine what Ps3 will look like when it's maxed a few years down the road.

i'd probably be having more fun with xbox live honestly i miss it i don't know maybe if i buy a headset i'll enjoy psn more

but i suck at FPS games on all systems and MGO pisses me off a lot like when i'm having a bad game and my whole team blames me for everything i get annoyed and just want to avoid everyone for the rest of the day because it pisses me off so much i don't know why i don't give a damn about resistance and i get my ass kicked in that all the time

yeah home sucks people just act like idiots on there you know the usual men pretending to be women for some reason and other men talking about rape constantly, it just makes me sick there's no way to make friends on there and there's way too much advertisement on it. home is an interesting concept though maybe some day it'll meet my expectations, i'm really EXCITED for little big planet though hopefully it gets here soon because i'm getting really sick of my ps3

little big planet is great though, it doesn't seem like anyone has done a decent oddworld level yet

Mac Sirloin 02-03-2009 12:39 PM

Get Left 4 Dead.

stonetooth 02-03-2009 04:04 PM

Earlier on the first page leto or someone said most games now adays are around 100, which isn't true. Some for the PS3 are, but most NEW xbox 360 games range from 40-60.

The Australian dollar returned to 98 US cents in July 2008

I see, looks like my previous information was slightly out of date. I think Australia are just dicks when it comes to gaming.

OANST 02-05-2009 07:19 AM

Those two cents are important, damn it.

Also, They banned Fear 2? The fuck for?

Alma is coincidentally the name of some dangerous new street drug.

Alcar 02-05-2009 01:21 PM

July 2008 != February 2009

AU$1 = $US0.65

However, our game prices haven't really changed. So yes, we are dicks.

Alcar...

Nate 02-05-2009 02:35 PM

It's not banning, they are not classified.
The problem is that in Australia games have the same rating system as films, but without the R rating, which is given to films that only people above the age of 18 can watch. Thus games of a particularly mature nature cannot be sold because they're too strong for an MA (15+) rating but there is nothing stronger to rate them as. There is a fairly strong movement to introduce an R rating for games. All the states support it but one, but unfortunately there needs to be unanimous approval for it to be brought in.
