I will, at first, say that your beliefs about games are simply beliefs. There are plenty of games that focus on single player. (Mass Effect, Bioshock, Psychonaughts, Total War games, Spore, Half-Life, Portal...)

Plenty of platformers...

Plenty of "2D" games.

Plenty of "art" in games.
