Didn't you ever learn not to never use double negatives?

He's from Italy therefore in the Mafia so he gets away with it. :tard:

dripik 02-06-2008 11:26 AM

Haven't heard of it much, but the idea of a day dedicated to food other than hamburgers and pizza is refreshing.

:

This day would have been perfect for me if it existed!

Just imagine that you're birthday was on the very same day...

You are aware that pancakes are made out of eggs and milk, yes? And that veganism ≠ vegetarianism, yes?

At the risk of creating a new topic entirely; eggs and milk didn't require the animal to die, right? So why exactly oppose eating it?

Wings of Fire 02-06-2008 12:21 PM

Read somewhere that dairy cows die 15 years before there time due to the stress of having to produce milk with no babies to feed.

Don't know about the hens though I assume it's something to do with the ethical implications of stealing their unborn young.

Because that's what Veganism is. Not using Animal products of any kind. Who are you to question their philosophy anyway?

Here's a vegan Recipe anyway... I haven't tried it, so I don't know how good it is http://www.recipezaar.com/128637

could a mod add sodding Honey to the poll, otherwish we may get flooded with Hentai phrases.

LEGENDS OF HENTAI!

"Oh, Let's go together!"

Bullet Magnet 02-06-2008 12:51 PM

Using animal products is exploiting the animals. Kind of like depending on welfare is exploiting the taxpayer.

Ooooh, burn! Unless no one's on welfare, in which case: megafail

Wings of Fire 02-06-2008 12:56 PM

Sigh.....blah blah blah single parent family blah blah blah mother disabled and can't work, blah blah blah in last year of high school.

Am I 'exploiting' the taxpayers? :p

Bullet Magnet 02-06-2008 12:56 PM

You're ruining everything!

dripik 02-06-2008 01:00 PM

So we can conclude that Vegetarianism is a more specific subcategory of Veganism? While the former only rejects meat, the latter rejects all animal products?

On topic, all this categorisation reminded me of something. Can we call crépés (and others) pancakes, or are these completely different terms?

Nate 02-06-2008 01:08 PM

Wrong way around; veganism is a more specific subcategory of vegetarianism.

:

The colloquial term for Shrove Tuesday which involves honouring the memory of Christ by the eating of the holy pancake.

I thought it was about being a glutton as much as possible before the restrictions of Lent.

MA 02-06-2008 01:27 PM

i cant beleive how many people havent heard of pancake day! have i just educated half of OWF's members about the tasty pancake by making this thread?

haven't a clue, except one is made by simple peasants, and the other by posho's.

Nate 02-06-2008 01:34 PM

That's because many countries in this world refer to the day as the more theologically pleasing 'Shrove Tuesday'. Stop being so parochial.

Bullet Magnet 02-06-2008 01:46 PM

Lent, which is (in theory) supposed to be "celebrated" by giving up the pleasures of food and donating the savings to charity, or church, begins with people using up all of such treats in one night. Which presumably means that at one point such treats were eggs, butter, sugar and a few other choice morsels. If we did the same today, the resultant... result would probably be lethal to all but the widest of arteries.

Didn’t you ever learn that double negatives emphasize the negativity, not reverse it?

Megafail, my friend; I signed off earlier today. :D

Indeed, but veganism is the original vegetarianism. Then veggies got lazy and stole the name, so we came up with an even spunkier one.

I'm not pissed off. That said, why on earth would you ask that why people hadn't heard of Pancake Day if you already knew the answer?

T-nex 02-07-2008 10:40 AM

Pancake day really just isn't an official day in Denmark :( Shucks....
