George Bush drove past me today in a goddamn long convoy. What I don't get is why he needs quite so many cars; what can ten vans of police do that five can't? Especially given that the entire route was lined with hundreds of police and soldiers and snipers anyway.

I spent much of the dead time telling people about the Chaser prank on APEC. The coppers here were much more relaxed about the whole thing. Occassionally you'd see a civilian just wandering through the closed zone without anyone blinking.
