Ok now, this post I am typing at the moment will lead to both disrespect towards me and perhaps a giant flaming upon me. But I'm taking the chance.

Pretty much 99% of this forum hates Runescape, for reasons such as, "Bad graphics, bad gameplay, noobish players, etc, etc." First off, the graphics are fair. They aren't models - they're made from Java coding, everything is coding. Jagex has their own menu lay out, unlike several other online games that have the same lay out. Gameplay? Don't even think about saying, "you have to click!" Almost every online game you have to click to do an action. And noobish players? That's only a handful of lower leveled noobs that are ignorant. I have several friends on Runescape that are highly intelligent and are exactly like everyone else.

I don't think anyone has said that. The 99% of people who don't like it I assume don't like it because it's a geeky adolescent chatroom thats far past it's welcome (well, that's how I feel).

I just find it a completely boring waste of time. I'll grant it that it's an alright game but if anyone plays it beyond level 20 they're pathetic. Unless you pay for membership there is practically nothing to do and if it isn't free then it isn't worth it.

If I'm going to waste my time playing MMOs, I'd rather spend some cash on WoW to get a good one, not one that looks terrible.

If the game is supposedly so awful, why did you play it? I mean it seems, someone who obviously knows what games are good and which ones aren't without being told by others, like yourself, wouldn't even bother with such a game.

And by the way, I loved your review of the game. Very informative. You should review things professionally, really.

As in stupid. Using Java is using complete coding. Not a program that uses coding and a model. All the graphics, sounds, ANYTHING in Runescape is complete coding. Java doesn't just make games...it makes websites and a lot of other things on the interwebz.

Now it isn't my profession to argue on forums. At all. But somehow you push me far enough so I do argue. Congrats!

I just think it's kind of counter-intuitive to make a house out of sticks (Java) when there's a pile of bricks and mortar right there (Models and game engines, n'stuff).

The main point I dislike about Runescape is the paying for it. Though it's playable for free, there is so much you miss out on, and you wouldn't be able to fight a proper member and win otherwise, pretty much. The graphics could be far better. The game runs incredibly slowly. Gameplay is irritating, particularly trying to level up and so on. It's not any one thing that Runescape is considered bad for, it's just that overall it could be so much more. The fact there's some awesome MMORPG's out there, it really does not stand out at all. It's just not worth bothering with at all. There are far better things to do on the computer.

I suppose others have different opinions, some like toiling for hours mining or whatever, but overall, there is a good reason why 99% of the internet despises Runescape, because most people aren't like that to waste time with such a poor game.

Though it may be free, I'd far rather pay for something good than play something that's only a thousandth as good for free. And I really do not understand the people who apy for Runescape...if you're gonna pay for it, pay for something that's worth your money.

I liked Runescape because it delievered the basic product (having fun) very nicely. You shouldn't care as much about graphics and shit, that will just deter from the game itself, from the world that these people must have put a lot into. I might honestly take Runescape over other free MMORPG's like Kal Online. At least on RuneScape you get a bigger choice of skills and goals; the graphics may be better on other games, but at least Runescape won't make your mind weep from lagging, and finally, RuneScape has the same player-maturity ratio as all other online games do. Besides, do you really play an online game for the people especially?

The only reason so many people hate RuneScape here is because the older members' taste in games is entirely superficial and the tweens are just wanting to up their reps by agreeing with them.

No, I am not an advertising agent their or anything, and don't really put ANY time into it AT ALL, but it seems fun enough.

There are servers that require you to pay, and also ones that don't.

I had RebirthRO which is a free server for ragnarok and didn't like the game much, it had less to do then Runescape and I kept getting lost. Plus I had to spend an entire day downloading and installing it because it's so bloody big.
