At least they're trying to squeeze money out of you by providing something new, different and fun. Not Madden #1567.

OANST 07-18-2007 04:37 PM

I do think that Nintendo has what looks to be the most fun in the coming year. Microsoft is second but suffers from screwing 360 owners out of new Gears content.

Daxter King 07-18-2007 11:44 PM

Yeah, I was pissed when I heard they wont put it on 360. It'll probably arrive there eventually though.

Leto 07-19-2007 11:02 PM

What I want to know is why OANST didn't vote 'I want to touch Oanst's penis.'.

In other words, I payed absolutely no attention to E3 this year. Only games I'm even semi-interested in presently are Halo 3 (comes out on the birthday... zing) and Fable 2.

SeaRex 07-20-2007 02:11 PM

OMG OMG OMG.

I was talking to this guy today about The Orange Box (due out Oct. 9, by the way), and he was saying how he was watching G4's E3 coverage, and Valve announced a game totally out of left field that went completely under the radar because no one had even heard of it.

The game is called "Left For Dead." It's a class-based shooter... online... zombie game. Humans vs. Zombies in a survival match. Humans get whatever they can find in the environment, like power tools or a pistol hid under a mattress or something, but they gain access to more hardcore stuff (like machine guns) the longer they stay alive. If they die, then they don't get to use their particular character again; they have to wait until one of their teammates finds more survivors holed up in the wreckage, then they can respawn as a new survivor.

Meanwhile, there are hordes of AI-controlled zombies chasing them. However, the other team gets to control one of several super-powerful mutated zombie classes, each with distinctive abilities. These are the ones I heard about:
  • A zombie with chameleon-like skin that can press himself against walls and turn invisible. The only thing that gives away his position is his heavy, asthmatic breathing, which should lead to some highly paranoid moments for the other team.
  • A fat zombie that can vomit infected blood, which attracts all nearby AI-controlled zombies, on a human player.
  • A zombie that looks like any other AI-controlled zombie... only he has a gigantic tongue that whips out like a frog. This class can hang off the edges of rooftops, grab a human by the neck, and strangle him with his tongue.
  • A gigantic, muscle-bound "tank" zombie that can rip blocks off of walls and, likewise, rip humans in half.

Apparently, Valve showed it to this G4 schmuck at E3, and he was all like... "Do what now?" because he wasn't even expecting to be shown any footage or anything.

Does anyone have anymore info on this?!

Leto 07-20-2007 03:00 PM

Left 4 Dead, with a 4.

I'll at least hire it. Like the sound of the 'smoker zombie'.

Edit: Just had to say, the Orange Box has the ugliest cover I've seen in a while.

I heard about that ages ago, hardly a stealth attack. Does sound cool though

SeaRex 08-02-2007 02:27 PM

Ages ago? I'm always the last to find out about these things.

Nemo 08-03-2007 08:46 PM

No Spore make me no like.

Hobo 08-04-2007 01:00 PM

Oh dear, ignore this post.

And laugh at my avatar

Wil 08-05-2007 05:23 AM

What were you thinking last night?

Cullen Heath 08-05-2007 05:31 AM

Whoo, Oanst's penis!

:

I also am interested in Mushroom Men.

Yes! That game looks so cool. I heard it's only for PC, though...?

Nate 08-05-2007 06:29 AM

I heard Nintendo DS.

OANST 08-05-2007 09:09 AM

I heard DS and Wii.

Jesus Christ, what is with the stifling amount of editing that goes on in this place now? There were two posts after this one (one of which was mine) and they were both just meant to be humorous. None of us took either of them seriously and yet they've been deleted. You mods (and I think it's Nate who does this mostly (and I like Nate which kind of makes it that much more annoying)) have got to calm the expletive deleted for fear of comlete post deletion down.

No Spore make me no like.

Well, actually that might mean it's coming out this year. So it's a good thing.

toxicity 08-10-2007 09:54 AM

E3 was crap

Nintendo: Showed an exercise game... yay...

Microsoft: A bunch of games we saw last year.

Sony: A new psp and a MMO where you don't do anything.

Laser 08-10-2007 12:49 PM

why do a hell of a lot of people want to touch touch OANSTs penis?
Just because its 5foot long and smells of gorgonzola
sickos

Patrick Vykkers 08-12-2007 02:32 PM

It's a joke. OANST doesn't actually have one, so I'm playing along with his delusions.

Mac Sirloin 08-12-2007 07:47 PM

Metroid Prime 3=Yayayay erection.

Orange box=Ehn, kinda old news.

Release date for orange box=Asplode

And so forth.
Never heard of Mushroom men before, but it looks AWESOME.

I bought it yesterday and you have already agreed to touch it. There's no backing out now.
