I refer you to my original statement:

Oh sorry. I about that part.

Hobo 04-30-2007 10:30 AM

Stop making the same thread. I don't care which non existent deity some people on this forum worship, if they don't worship me, they're dirty whores and don't deserve to live.

Munch's Master 04-30-2007 11:18 AM

I'm kind of a muddle. I used to be athiest, but recently kind of found religion. I believe in God, but don't believe he made Earth in 6 days. I believe the Big Bang theory, in that a massive explosion made the universe, but as to why, well, that's where God comes in- to fill the blanks, since I have no other possible idea.
As for Heaven or Hell, I don't know. I want there to be an afterlife, I really do. And certain experiences in my life have made me believe there could be such a thing as a soul. Maybe it's just the impossibility to comprehend an ultimate, black end, while alive.
I'm totally non-practicing though. Never go to Church, have only ever been for my cousins' Baptism and my grandfather's funeral. Never been Chjristened/Baptised, and unlesss I decided to suddenly become a full-fledged practicing Christian (which is unlikely) I never will.

You could (and soem probably will) say I'm hedging my bets, but truth is i hoenstly don't know. The way I see it, if the Universe had a beginning, then
a) what was before it
b) why did it begin
And the only thing I can think of that could explain this that doesnt involve me going on a lengthy tangent about astrophysics and Steven Hawking is the theory of a God.

Patrick Vykkers 04-30-2007 12:44 PM

I wasn't aware Satanism was a common religion. Narcisstic weirdoes. And Hobo, trolls make baby FSM cry.

I chose the path of the Lord a loooong time ago. He opened my eyes to the wonders of this world and let me enjoy life without sin so I can get my spot into heaven when I die. I thank Jesus every day for taking my sins and pray to him every morning and every night for he is the holy light of the heavens.
I voted Catholic and for all you non religious sinners I must urge you to do the same lest you be cast to hell on the day you leave this world for all eternity! Let Jesus save you from Satan! Let Jesus take your sins for you! Jesus has died once before for you and he can do it again! Heil Jesus!

Hm... Think I killed it with that last one... Ah well.

LOL. I think you've got me confused with "Ilovehammy!". I'm not an evangelical Catholic.

Havoc 04-30-2007 02:47 PM

Don't we feel like the center of the f*cking universe? I wasn't talking to you specifically smartypants...

Havoc

Chubfish 04-30-2007 02:49 PM

I'm not religious in anyway...guess i'm non-religious then.

Arxryl 04-30-2007 04:27 PM

I am Christian... yeah... I'm sure you all knew that, but... what the hey. Y'know? That's like asking Havoc if he likes tigers, or Jordan if he has something for Laura Croft... ;)

M'yeh... I've become more religious recently, but don't think I'm going to chase you down with a cross and force you to... I dunno, eat... somehting... I make it up as I go...

Patrick Vykkers 04-30-2007 04:29 PM

So how exactly is a religion based around viewing of the self as the most important thing and striving for such hedonism as "good" NOT narcissistic?

Bullet Magnet 04-30-2007 04:52 PM

It's happening again. Curse these threads!

If you call me a christian one more time, Patrick, I'll bust a cap...
That's very un-Christian of you.

Abeguy 05-01-2007 01:26 PM

exactly, I'm not a christian

Because we, like, contain the whole universe inside of us.

I actually believe that. :)

Patrick Vykkers 05-01-2007 04:05 PM

Your a pantheist?

Abeguy 05-01-2007 09:11 PM

Y'know, I've always wondered if all the world I live in is all in my head, and in the "real" world, I'm hooked up to a machine, being studied by scientists. They're fascinated with my vast mind and brain power, which is extremely hindered here, in my "mental" world, which all of this world exists...including you.

That's just a fun little thought I have from time to time.

another is the idea that some Indian kid over in...India...is somewhat possessed by my spirit, as to say he's doing the exact same thing I am...with props or not. So say I'm sitting here typing this, and over in India, a family is watching their son lay on his back, or creepier yet, floating as if sitting in a chair...twiddling his fingers and changing glances between his hands and the empty space in front of him.

I have an active imagination...>.>

Bullet Magnet 05-01-2007 09:25 PM

It's not something frequently spoken about, but everyone I've talked to about private mind-wanderings have come up with that or their own variations of them.

It seems maddening thoughts like these are common to us all.

"Satanism" is a misnomer. Satanists don't actually worship Satan; they just reject the Christian church.

Yup

And just to make everything clear (thanks for the photo Havoc :p) I don't think I'm in that path anymore, it's a bit childish.

I have no clue what I realy am at the moment, so that's why I voted "other".

Havoc 05-02-2007 12:53 AM

I can see what you mean by it being childish, it's like a kid doing the exact opposite of what is expected of it just to be stubborn instead of just saying 'no'. Then again in this particular instance it does make for a good laugh because I still laugh my ass off at that picture.

Who voted Sufi? I will end you. :p

Havoc 05-02-2007 01:34 PM

Hobo, who else?

Bullet Magnet 05-02-2007 06:35 PM

Ha! I finally worked out what I am. I am an "ignostic atheist". So that is a cross between an agnostic atheist, being someone who knows that the existence or nonexistence of god or gods cannot be proved or disproved but doesn't believe in any, and "ignosticism".

This is the branch of agnosticism that I find both fitting and hilarious, in which the view is that the question of the existence of a transcendent God is meaningless because the terms are "clearly nonfalsifiable" and "basically unintelligible". The statement "God exists" is not a proposition, a statement which can be true or false, but is instead as nonsensical as "All mimsy were the borogroves".

Christian- Catholic
Christian- Protestant
Christian- Other (JW, Christadelphian, Mormon, et al)
Is this a joke? Other? Ever heard of the Orthodox church? There should be at least 4 categories based on Christianity. Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox and Other. I'm only saying this because the Orthodox branch is rather big, at least in comparison to any other minor Christian group of followers.

So yeah, I guess I've made it pretty obvious what I am. I'm Christian (Serbian) Orthodox. I used to be relatively religious when I was younger, but it kind of faded away with school taking up too much time and alot of other things. However, lately, I've been very interested in going to church again, so I might just do that.

IloveHammy! 05-11-2007 07:03 PM

I am a Christ following girl, living only to serve Him. He is my everything. I've had a lot of harassment because I live for the one true God (especially on here), but I have not given up, and I never will. God is forgiving and powerful, graceful and wonderful, loving and kind, and that's only a small list of all that He is. He is the only way.

Patrick Vykkers 05-11-2007 09:12 PM

Technically, then, you should be placed under "Christianity- Other" (Unless you are a Catholic or Protestant)

Yes, yes, that's all well and good.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I'm just tired of people who talk like you just typed. They come up to you, and starting talking in this way that seems to basically say, "Convert, or I'll kill you."

Hammy, I see how you have a devout belief in God, but you can't really technically say He is the only way. There's other religons out there, and all of them have about the same proof to their validity as your does:

A book.

I'm not trying to spark a religious debate here, (Okay, yes, I am) but I see the common Christian view that theirs is the only way is a bit ignorant, since there's plenty of religions with basically the same idea, just different names for the Big Guy.

I apologize if this has offended you, for you seem to be a decent person who is smart enough to type out an opinion, unlike some people here.

But I have no view toward any religion, except for maybe the occasional 'Allah Akbar' for jokes and such.

Thus, like Bullet in another topic, I am apathy incarnate when it comes to religion.

Marvak 05-11-2007 10:57 PM

I'm atheist. When I was really little, my school used to teach Religous Education (particularly Christian) and I used to belive. I guess it faded away when I got more interested in science books (I was the only one in my year 5 class who enjoyed reading Encyclopaedia Britannica) and I ditched the ideas of this big powerful fella creating everything, for the ideas of evolutionism and the big bang etc. Why? Be cause it made so much more sense.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the sort of person who thinks everyone who believes in a God is an idiot. I'm sure everyone who does has reasons, just as I have my reasons not to.

Yes, yes, that's all well and good.
*snip*

So you define a religion with a personal triune deity with a son (Christian) as having the same deity as a religion with a deity with no son (Islam), an impersonal, nature based deity (Native American and many other pagan beliefs), a complete question mark (Buddhism), a multitude of deities (most pagan religions, Hinduism), a malevolent deity (Luciferianism, Maltheism), and an impersonal cosmic force (Deism).

I don't know who you were replying to, but seeing as you can't change the poll settings right now, I'll have to place myself in the Other category. I'm just saying, don't forget that almost half of Europe - and certain parts of the Middle-East, not to forget all of Russia and Ukraine, are Orthodox countries - that's alot of followers, you know. It can't possibly be overlooked and thought of as a minority among the various Christian sub-religions.

Munch's Master 05-12-2007 08:59 AM

Patrick, a point about Hinduism- they believe there is only one God (Brahman, I think) but there are 4 main aspects of him- Vishnu, Sheeva, and 2 others who I forget the names of, and then thousands of other aspects of him, the most known of which is of course Ganesh. So 1 god, lots of manifestations.

Before you ask how I know this, I was good at RE classes when I was younger.
