Being an atheiest and believing in ghosts have nothing to do with one another. I mean, I'm an atheist, yet I believe in them.
|
i agree with many other people that it just doen't seem logical. I don't really belive in the spirit world or god...im more of a science man when it comes to things like this.
|
I don't believe in ghosts, at all.
Nor do I believe in superstition. I find superstiton more annoying though. There is no evidence to prove the existance/non existance of ghosts (so it could be possible, though I still don't believe in ghosts) while superstiton is completely illogical and there is no chance of it being true. I also hate chain emails which say they give good luck etc. They piss me off, then I usually reply instead of forwarding and swear at the sender. Sometimes I think my friends send me these emails just to see what I'll write in return. |
OOoh I just hate the ones where they make up a bunch of stories, and make them sound all believable, like with names and stuff, and they say something like "So-and-so got this message and ignored the repost prompt. In the morning, his parents noticed he was missing and then found him down a gutter with his neck broken" or "his mother died in a terrible car accident the next day" or something. And then it says, "If you don't repost this in 5 minutes, this will happen to you." Those are probably the stupidest thing mankind invented. I can't believe people actually get spooked into reposting them.
I never, ever, ever repost those. Talk about superstition. |
A TV show I watched took the piss out of chain emails. They blamed the death of a child on someone who didn't forward an email. It was pretty funny.
I also hate internet signings "Put your name on this email and we can stop *something*" Seriously, when has one of these ever worked? Don't they stop and think that an interent name could be faked and has no legal standing? Idiots. If you do believe in ghosts you're probably more likely blame the cause of something on ghosts, which would just re-enforce your belief in them. |
Are you saying people who believe in ghosts get it from television? If you are, then I must disagree. I started to believe in ghosts when I saw the Grim Reaper. Now, most of you are probably thinking, "Grim Reaper? What a childish thought, what a fool, that's just kid stuff." But I beg to differ. Grimmy is actually real, but an evil soul he is not. As a matter of fact, Grimmy is an angel who visits people when someone dies who's close to them -- and I mean very close. Not like a family member, more like if you're brother dies or your mother. Or someone that has been with you you're whole life. And this isn't from TV, this is from my Grandma, and she didn't have TVs when she was younger. People can see ghosts, and everyone in my family says I might be able to because I was able to see freakish things in homes that people died in.
If no one believes me, so be it, but I myself believe what I see. |
Funny, I played the role of the Grim Reaper during a skit today, did a damn good job too. :D
Also, a new study shows that people who see Ghost shows do start to believe in ghosts! Weird. Also, lately I've seen chain stuff that says you will get good things if you foward it, not bad things if you dont. Weird, eh? |
Hmm indeed very interesting.

Anyways, I aint afraid of no ghosts. ;) I know I've already posted what I think but...meh. It's always fun to read about that kind of stuff. Read as in books, not chain emails. Those are retarded and are spawned from...uh... some stupid person down in California with nothing better to do. Ghosts make good stories and movies and such, and for some reason, it's very entertaining if they make the story right. :) |
I'm kinda on the fence about the whole ghosts thing. I probably won't believe in them until I see some solid proof or until I actually see one.
|
Did you know that 100% of people that have actually seen ghosts believe in them?
... Seriously. I do agree with you though Toxicity... When something really weird, creepy and almost un-explainable happens, I'll begin to rethink my thoughts. Till then however, I stick with Halloween costumes. |
Well that would be because, since they believe in ghosts, they put down what they see to ghostly activity. I've seen a helluva lot of weird and freaky stuff that I'm sure could easily be assumed to be ghosts. It wasn't, of course, and a few shut windows, fixed boilers and re-insulated pipes and walls eliminated the problem.
There is but one Grim Reaper in the 'verse, and he rides a white horse called Binky. |
I don't believe in atheists.

I don't believe in disbelief.
|

And Toxicity, if you don't belive in religion, then you believe in Aitheism, which is an "Ism" or ideal, so technically you do in a weird way believe in a sort of religion. Arxryl- confusing myself daily. ;) |
I don't believe in confusion.
|
I don't believe in OANST getting an infraction for spam. But my mind could change...

One question I have towards the people who believe in the Grim Reaper. How can you believe in him when he is the personification of death and is most commonly spawned in popular fiction? (Considering you hadn't "Seen" the grim reaper) P.S: I'm not trying to discredit you in anyway. |
I have, if you read my post. He isn't a skeleton, that's stupid myths and dumb stories, he's a shadow and isn't evil. =/

I liked that. It made me laugh. In a good way. |
Ghosts are for the simple-minded. No evidence for it and its just totally absurd. But wouldn't it rock to be a ghost? Get to have great incubus-style sex with people, haunt people who deserve it, scare people and get superhuman strength to throw shit around. You have no hours, don't have to eat or sleep, are just about invincible. Seems like a sweet gig to me, a lot better than Christian or Islamic heaven at any rate.
What would you rather do, sit around in a dress all day telling a sociopath how great he is with some wimpy harp or bang hot people and pulls pranks all day? |
:
ghosts are product of human's imagination..... convincing someone that ghosts do not excite is ''simple-minded'' . do not give to much credits to things stupid as this... |
Fluid, I don't mean to cause offence, but: I'm tired of your arrogant nature. For almost everything, you seem to have the need to make a 'clever' comment that is intended to offend/annoy/show ingorance or dislike to someone in a lot of your posts. And some of your posts seem utterly pointless. And would it hurt to throw in a bit of proper grammar? I'm finding it all hard to read.
Is all this just me being a maungy pot, or does anyone else feel this way? |
I completely agree with Oddjob. Fluid, your posts are usually pretty pointless. It seems that you usually psot only to get on people's nerves, and/or to get a chuckle out of someone (though, I can't understand how that would be achieved, as your humor is lacking). Seriously, what's point of posting if you have nothing to contribute but a a sentence or two that basically just says something stupid about a member with horrid grammar?
|
Uh... that's all good and all, but is leaning on the edge of hypocrisy. Do try not to spam too much. for I AM PERFECT! LISTEN TO ME! ;)
(I don't think I need to add "Just kidding" but, just in case...) Any-hoo.... Even if Ghosts are just things people make up to amuse themselves then... Cool. they are doing their job. :) |
I honestly doubt people could just make them up. I mean, alot of people have claimed to see them. How could they all have hallucinated and seen practically the same type of image? :p
|
Exactly. There is a lot we can't really explain. See? I'm on the borderline. I don't know if I want to believe in ghosts or not. I haven't had any experience with ghosts, but I haven't had too much facts proving them non-existant.
The rebel inside me wants to believe they are real, but I am skeptical. Just a bit... |
