Well, you go to the top of the page and their should be a thing that says "Post Topic" on the main page of the section you are looking in and viola! You got it! just make sure to post it in the right section.

That would be a little awkward if Stranger did meet Abe. He probably wouldn't want to take his help though, as he seems kind of like the 'lone wolf" aside form the Grubbs.

Slaveless 12-29-2006 07:34 PM

Stranger meeting up with Abe wouldn't work out very well in my mind. The very idea that Abe has a high connection with nature might intimidate Stranger and want him out of the Mongo Valley. Personally, I believe that if ME was released, Munch might need the help of Stranger instead of Abe, since Abe has other things to do.

Arxryl 12-29-2006 09:03 PM

That does seem a little better than Abe meeting with Stranger.
Or maybe if they create the game, "hand of Odd" they could put all of the races show previously in the games including Steefs, Gabbits, and of course Mudokons.

The native race depicted in The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants is the Mudokon race, but the Mudokons have never been seen by the Mongo in any canonical material, and since the Grubbs are supposed to have, during their heyday, populated the Mongo and its tributaries from source to sea, that would leave little room for the Muds, unless they encroached on Grubb territory—but why would they not just in turn be victimised by settlers and Sekto’s security.

I was under the impression that those images were proof of concept shots that were done before the Grubb designs had been finalised - so they used Muds as stand-ins.

Seddo 12-30-2006 01:24 AM

I would like to see a new game whit abe as the head character again, becuse he was the best!!!!!!!!!! =)

Seddo 12-30-2006 01:37 AM

But is it posseble to go to repture Farms or places like that? Scrabania, Pyramania? In SW

Nate 12-30-2006 01:51 AM

No, SW is on the opposite side of the continent of Mudos from the Abe games so visiting past locations is impossible. It wouldn't be a good idea anyway, as people want to explore more of Oddworld rather than revisit old locations.

In any case, Seddo please don't double post. If you want to add something to a recent post, please use the Edit button at the bottom right of the post.

Seddo 12-30-2006 01:58 AM

Sorry for the double post my mistake, but do you know if theres gona be a new oddworld game soon out for xbox 360 or ps3?

Nate 12-30-2006 03:43 AM

No, not any time soon. Oddworld Inhabitants are working on a film which will probably have a game tie-in but that's not going to be released for several years now. For more information check this thread out: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=14591

But they were done in 2001, before the release of Munch’s Oddysee, so there wasn’t yet the impetus to invent Grubbs. They’re more likely concepts for Munch’s Exoddus.

Zerox 12-30-2006 07:05 AM

Hmmm...if the dam blocks the way for Gabbits to breed, then that means Gabbits became extinct faster than they usually would under mere predation from Glukkons.
I presume Gabbits only inhabit/inhabited seas around Mudos, as otherwise more, larger rivers from other continents could be possible spawn sites also.
If Stranger stays with the Grubbs for longer, and learns more about them, maybe he wouldn't be *quite* as intimidated by Abe's connection to nature. But Mudokons are far more spiritual and connected to nature than the Grubbs. Mudokons live with the environment, while grubbs live more off of it, but in a sensible manner. perhaps, since these Grubbs had their environment and pretty much whole culture destroyed by Secto, they were more in tune with nature beforehand, more so than the ones seen in SW.
Abe and the other Mudokons could take Lulu's airship to Ma Spa, drop off Munch, and then go elsewhere.
I presume the Gabbiar eggs are fertilized, otherwise there would be inbreeding. Perhaps Gabbits don't spawn like fish, but mate before laying the eggs? After mating, they feel an urge to go and lay the eggs in Ma Spa. I'm theorising here, though.
I presume no animals like Scrabs or suchlike were introduced in SW because the water resource was unavailable, meaning animal life was impossible, apart from the very small ones that can perhaps obtain water from their food sources or suchlike (Live Ammo species are the only realy animals found in the wilds of SW).

Slaveless 12-30-2006 07:54 AM

I am imposing that when you mean animals, you mean wildlife. But you are wrong my friend, there are wild Slegs in SW that happen to be fully alive. In fact, there is quite a bit a water source around the place. Like the lake that Stranger swims across in the beginning.

I think that the Gabbit eggs are not fertilized, then that means there probably would be Gabbits by now. But maybe since they are under cool temperatures, that would mean that the eggs wouldn't grow as fast as they would. Maybe Xavier or Max can clear things up a little bit.

Seddo 12-30-2006 10:33 AM

Is SW a good game I mean like the other oddworld games is it something like them?

I didn't know there were wild Slegs. Well, apart from that there's not alot then. No Scrabs or anything, even though Scrabs are meant to live in desert environments.

If the gabbit eggs aren't fertilised, then isn't Munch screwed anyway because, as was said earlier, there'd be inbreeding? And I'd think OWI wouldn't be SO utterly stupid as to not realise that. So they must be.

I think this question belongs in the Q and A section, but yes. it is a fun game, but altogether different from the "save mudokons and Fuzzles" idea. it's more of a first/third person shooter.

If you have further questions I'd put them into the Oddworld Q and A thread.

Bullet Magnet 12-30-2006 12:32 PM

I think we can be sure that scrabs go unhindered when water in in short supply.

I didn't know there were wild Slegs.

Slegs are wild creatures. Hardy Outlaws might call them pets, but Slegs are undomesticable.

Ninjaxe 12-30-2006 01:39 PM

I just want to add...Don't the wolvarks throw slegs at you shouting words 'get him' or something like that. Doesnt that show some kind pet type thing? Or they slogs?

If Gabbits are like fish, then inbreeding wouldn't really matter. Inbreeding affects certain kinds of animals, like humans and cats. But fishs' genes are a bit different, causing the disturbition of genes to be a little different. So in theory, I don't think it really matters if the eggs are fertilized or not, the species will live on.

...I didn't know that. Shows me something.

I was led to believe that Slegs were specifically bred versions of Slogs...is it the other way round now or something?
Apparently Slegs dissappear in SW when they bite you.

The models are clearly Slegs, but I’m convinced they were meant to be Slogs. Contrast how easily it would have been to rename Sloghandlers to Sleghandlers with how much harder it would have been to add an extra model.

They’re closely related but separate species. Think domestic dogs and coyotes.

Taytay 01-01-2007 12:59 PM

whee!

Abe meeting Stranger wouldn't be very fun, but Stranger getting the bounty on Abe. That might be interesting. Or Abe, following stranger into some...some thing? The first idea was better, it might be interesting being Stranger and having to get through all Abe's buddies...

I finaly got The Art of Oddworld and study that map.

Isnt canned gabbiar a product of the Vykkers Conglamoration rather than the Magog Cartel?

moxco 01-02-2007 12:53 PM

you cant see were stranger is on the muddos map so how do we even know he is on that country/island?Even if he is he was probaly before Munch/Abe
time cus ive got sw and mo and in mo the sligs have got lazer gun things and the outlaws in sw have rifel's and stranger him self has a crossbow.
also its prety obvious tht sw is in the cowboy erra and Munch/Abe games arnt.

although if stranger doesnt live in muddos he could live some were else of the map in the same erra as munch/abe but were he lives isnt as civilised.

Nate 01-02-2007 01:56 PM

Lorne Lanning has stated that Stranger's Wrath occurs in Western Mudos and concurrent (ie at the same time) to Abe and Munch's story.

Some Sligs in MO do have laser guns. But other Sligs have beating bats or whatever those things are called. Sorry, but I think your point is not completely logical. Weapons in OW dont really talk about the time period rather than the status of their owners.

Jordan 01-03-2007 06:13 AM

I think in MO the sligs should have machine guns, it would have made the game a lot harder... :D

Wil 01-03-2007 06:51 AM

Laser guns? The ‘laser’ is just so the player can see the ammunition being fired.

Taytay 01-03-2007 05:50 PM

Max, agreed.
Also, maybe there guns are more "high-tech" I guess you would call it, becasue they work for probably one of the biggest industries on Oddworld.

glokstar 01-07-2007 12:23 PM

Status, status, status! :p Thats all there is to it. Plus, who do u guys think has more money to arm themselves and their Sligs? An outlaw or a Glukkon Bigcheese/Glockstar? I think its so, so cleeeeear...
