Aardman has done tonnes of CG animation stuff before. All that I've seen has been excellent. Don't judge them on the basis of Nick Park alone.

I saw Dr Strangelove... on the telly (though I've got the DVD) again this evening. Still terrific, love it to bits. But I really didn't take to it when I first saw it, thought it was boring. Shows what I know! Back then. Now I know everything that's worth knowing.

Just got Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest on DVD. I watched it yesterday and I'm still enjoying it. (even though it's like the foruth time I've seen it... including the three times I saw it in theatres.)

That is the worst film i've ever seen. Other than Bicentenial Man and Lost In Space.

That show is pretty rockin. I've watched a couple episodes of it with my brother- gotta love that digital cable on demand option.

And to the Click reference, I feel ya there. Though I still can't forgive Eight Crazy Nights, the Sandler has managed to pretty well redeem himself in my eyes.

I have just gotten back from seeing Casino Royale. All I can say is WOW. It was byfar the best Bond film yet. I couldn't sit still while I was watching it because there was action at every turn. Simply put: It was fantastic.

Saw Ocean last night. It's pretty to the formula for that genre, but meh, it was slightly enjoyable.

I saw FLushed Away and I really enjoyed it. I thought it would be childish, but it was very funny.

if i'd seen a million more films than the tons i've seen, i'd still think POTC 2 was a big splintering pile of wooden crap.

'I've got a well good idea lads. Let's have them roll around in a ball, then a wheel, then make an ending that makes no ****ing sense.'

The only good bit is Geoffrey Rush, and he's in it for 10 bloody seconds.

The ending does make sense. It's a cliffhanger. And I personally highly enjoyed PoTC2, but place it level with the original PoTC. Yes the ball scene was random and silly, as where some other scenes around that part of the story (Jack getting kebabed, jumping a massive gorge while tied to a pole, and then falling 500 feet without being harmed, oh and the scene where the water wheel breaks over his head. He'd have been crushed, for God's sake.) I think those bits were attempts at Slapstick comedy., They should stick with the more subtle/verbal comedy IMO, the slapstick attempts are poor.
And yeah Casino Royale's a great film. Craig's protrayal of Bond is IMO exactly how Bond should be played- Tough, gritty and no-nonsense. A secret agent wouldn't be cracking jokes in the middle of a high stakes poker game, and taking a loss lightly- he'd be like Daniel Craig- serious and focused. The plot was strong but the poker game I felt was covered too briefly considering it was the central part of the story, some of the character development was a bit lacking, and the ending was rather disappointing/underwhelming, but potentially allows a follow-up set directly after Casino Royale. The SFX and stunts were excellent, and some scenes such as the initial chase or airport scene, which I thought were at the climax of the film, surprised me by featuring early on. One thing that disappointed me about Le Chiffre though was the whole setup for the airport scene- how he orchestrates a bomb attack to manipulate the stock market, It seemed like a direct ripoff from Jonathan Pryce's character in I believe it was Tomorrow Never Dies? That or The World is Not Enough. Nevertheless it still was a good solid film, an excellent return to the series and one of the best Bonds in a long while.

Fyi dude, always be sure to throw down a "Spoilers!" tag whenever you reveal any major plot revelations. Especially for more movies, watch your footing on what you post about. This goes for the rest of you lot too:p

I know what you mean. I really loved how Bond looked so cold and indifferent all the time, as if he was sociopathic. That's how he should be in my opinion. Just completely detached from the people he's after. At the same time, though, I really liked the fact that they showed a completely different side of him. They showed that Bond could love someone while being that cold unfeeling individual. In my opinion it completely redefined the character.

The only thing I didn't like about the film, is how they kept switching between antagonists. What were there, like 4 or 5? I preferred it when there used to be just one main one. Is it true though that they're going to remake all the old Bond films now?

Watched Alien: Resurrection the other night.

It isn't as bad as people say it is, and the Xenomorphs are great fun. SCREE!

I have just seen Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One, another of these Criterion deals. It sounded quirky, so I bought it, and it is quirky. Need to see it again really (only 75 mins long) because at the moment I feel as if I'm either not really getting it, or there is nothing to get. Which is a suggested reading of the film within the film itself. So... yeah. It was quite enjoyable though.

I just saw X-men 3. Man, Someone really screwed this one up. I mean, it wasn't even close to the actual comic-book story line.

Who gives a crap if it was close to the comic book storyline?

None of the films follow the comic book story. The whole point behind all the Marvel films is to branch away from the comics-

Spider Man 1 kills off Goblin, 2 kills off Doc Ock, X-Men 1 kills off Sabretooth and Toad, 3 kills Jean and Cyclops (And Prof X but he then comes back in an easter egg after the credits), Fantastic 4 kinda writes out Doom, Hulk totally changes the story, and so on. None of them follow the comic plots.

Saw Anguish recently. It's false ploys of subliminal messages and hypnotism made it out to be something it wasn't. Some interesting ideas though, and that Zelda midget from Poltergeist gives it: 3 shits out of 7.

I just saw Terry Pratchett's Hogfather, and it was marvelous. They got Death just right, and he was so funny.

Hey, I saw that too! High five!!! Well, I've oly seen part 1 (part 2 is taped, I haven't watched it yet), but it' been great. Death has indeed been done perfectly, my only disappointment is that Teatime is being played in a manner highly similar to Johnny Depp's portrayal of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Choclolate Factory. Still, it's been great and very funny:

Death: My favourite part is seeing the expressions on their little faces.
Albert: Yes, it's sort of a mixture of fear, awe and like their wetting their pants.

Death: Ho hoho.
Albert; You er, need to put a bit more life into it than that sir, pardon my phrasing.

Indeed. I only recently started reading the Discworld books, but have read tons in that time, and roughly in order. I've read 1-6, and 9-12, and am currently part way through 7 ('Pyramids').
