Highlarious.

Fez 11-17-2006 11:34 AM

How I love that band.

Hobo 11-17-2006 11:42 AM

Anyone else heard the new Tenacious D album?

Beelzeboss is the best damn song ever. EVER.

But the beginning of the album is a let down... The end is creamy though

Leto 11-17-2006 11:49 AM

I steered clear of it because of the new single. I liked the first album, but the new single was just... shite. Is the album a return to their older stuffs?

More lolage.

Oh, and Fez, if you didn't get that Untitled EP, this is from it, and remains my favourite track from them: http://youtube.com/watch?v=dF0v-mItH4w

They played many of the songs on the album on tour in 2004 and they have changed drastically in the studio to become more commercial. And Starlight has pop written all over it.

Assassin is a great example, it used to be 6 minutes long with a complete change in the middle and a tapping solo. Now its a 3 minute radio friendly classic.

Who gives a crap if Starlight has a pop feel to it? It's a great song. Easily one of my favourite Muse tracks. Genres are for comparisons, not restrictions.
The Assassin thing you may be right on, but if you hadn't heard the six minute version beforehand, would you have considered Assassin a sell out song? It's not exactly radio friendly.

Hobo, I'm not going to check out the new D album until I see the movie, otherwise I'll know all the songs, so I won't find them as funny/awesome when I see it on screen.

Fez 11-18-2006 01:15 PM

I think Starlight is pretty aweful, as with Invincible too. The new album does have 2 of my all time faves though, Map of the Problematique and Kights of Cydonia.

I'm seeing the band in 3 days, hoping for old stuff though.

toxicity 11-18-2006 04:04 PM

I'll be picking up the new Modest Mouse album. Those guys are awesome beyond belief.

Oh, and this guy is pretty cool: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endID=59826149
He makes all the noises in his songs with his mouth.

Fez 11-22-2006 01:52 PM

Muse were fantastic. Nice mix of old and new tunes. Really got blow away during Take a Bow.

Anyone else seen any bands recently?

Kimon 11-23-2006 06:54 AM

I saw SayAnything, mewithYou, and Piebald last Sunday. It was an excellent show.

But I would have traded it all in to see Muse, you lucky scoundrel. Jealous anger!!!

Statikk HDM 11-23-2006 10:09 AM

That new My Chemical Romance song sounds like the post-op bastard lovechild of Avril Lavigne and Dragonforce. If its ever on the radio turn the funk/classic rock station on immediately.
Or don't listen to the radio when you don't have to. By and large the good to shit ratio is like 1:10 on free radio.

Facsimile 11-23-2006 04:31 PM

Avril Lavigne and DragonForce? So it's like an insanely fast try hard?

OANST 11-23-2006 09:07 PM

I started listening to Regina Spektor recently. Very, very good stuff.

Click this link and be duly amazed.

The New My Chemical Romance Song sounds a little like Avril Lavigne I guess, but how does it sound like dragonforce??? Maybe if you're talking about the "we carry on" part of the lyrics but no similarities in the music style at all, thank god.

Statikk HDM 11-24-2006 04:45 AM

The drumming, and the chorus, and the immensely sappy beginning lyrics that sound like the trite shit most people produce when writing up their fantasy PCs backstories reminded me of them.

Wow. She is excellent.

oddveteran93 11-25-2006 04:10 AM

Does anyone here listen to Dream Theatre?

Hobo 11-25-2006 10:05 AM

No. I listen to Dream Theater though.

Leto 11-25-2006 06:12 PM

Everything > Dream Theater.

With that in mind... Cannibal Corpse > Dream Theater. Hahaha!

Hobo 11-26-2006 08:26 AM

You got your > and < confused again it seems. And Cannibal Corpse are awful, no matter what my girlfriend says

Leto 11-26-2006 06:03 PM

Knew someone would poke at that. In that case, I have a word equasion:

"Everything is better than Dream Theater."

Cannibal Corpse are horrible though, yus.

Facsimile 11-27-2006 12:21 AM

And what DT have you heard?

Statikk HDM 11-27-2006 07:02 AM

Cannibal Corpse greater than everything? They're not even in the Top 10 when it comes to late 80s-90s Florida metal, how the **** are they greater than everything?

Hobo 11-27-2006 07:19 AM

He didn't say that, he said everything > dt, so CC> DT and CC< everything but DT

oddveteran93 11-27-2006 10:27 PM

Cannibal Corpse are pathetic. Modest Mouse and Metallica FTW. Taproot's ok too

Leto 11-27-2006 11:32 PM

I skimmed over my brothers copy of Octavarium, thought it was godawful. I'm afraid I'm just not a fan of the genre.

So, yes, my opinion is wrong.

Kimon 11-28-2006 07:01 AM

So it's time for a PLACEBO QUESTIOOOONNNN!!!!!!!!

I checked out the newish album Meds yesterday and I really liked Post Blue and A Song To Say Goodbye. Do youeth (SM) know of any other Placebo songs like those?

Fez 11-28-2006 12:33 PM

I'm a massive Placebo fan. Song To Say Goodbye is similar to their work on Sleeping With Ghosts, so i'd buy that album next. Post Blue is really different for them so you wont find anymore like it!

Song to Say Goodbye is the worst song on Meds though, erugh.

Statikk HDM 11-28-2006 12:50 PM

Cannibal Corpse is pathetic so as a rejoinder to the CC love you suggest Taproot, Modest Mouse, and Metallisuck? Don't even deny it, you know they haven't done anything worth a damn in over 10 years.

Okay, probably to stop future excitement just say 'metal' or 'progressive metal' sucks, instead of singling out particular bands.

What music are you into? Genre-wise I mean, I don't recognise many bands talked about here.

Leto 11-28-2006 08:57 PM

Ambient and post rock. No one seems to know what Ambient is these days, so here:

God damn it's hard to find a short description. Just skim over this.

Thing is, I do like some metal, just not most of it. The Gathering, Ulver, Tool, Spastic Ink and Anathema namely.

The only album it shares a similar sound with would be Black Market Music. I might just be saying that because of Black Market Blood, as it has the same kind of dischordanty sound to it, but generally if you like Placebo you'll like it.
