This must be the only non-Oddworld topic allowed to live in the GD forum :p

Nate 10-29-2006 05:49 PM

Well, it relates to Oddworld Inhabitants so that still counts.

Perhaps in the long term we will have to have another Zulag 1 forum for CS but I think that's a long way off.

oddguy 10-29-2006 07:48 PM

Wow...I'm really excited about this. Not dissapointed in the slightest. I also find it very cool that OWI will be developing a game right alongside the production of the movie. Maybe this will be a trend with OWI in the future...game and movie packaged together.

Wow, i think this kinda sucks

I am pretty annoyed that someone moved my Michael Bross Thread into offtopic...

Here is another article. I basically says the same thing, but it's still nice to read.;)

Yeah, so was I. Just not enough to pester any OTD mods about it.

Quite right.

You’d be surprised how wrong you are.

Really? I'm surprised at that.

It's funny how our attachment to Oddworld extends beyong its boundaries. You wouldn't find a Lord of the Rings film forum discussing King Kong. Would you?

Our name might be better "Oddworld Inhabitants Forums".

Cullen Heath 10-30-2006 04:40 AM

Well, I guess that it is official that they are working on both the Film and the Game at the same time.

Ummm... You have to be careful with CS articles as some of them (such as your second one) are dated from the original 2004 announcement.

SeaRex 10-30-2006 12:19 PM

Looking forward to it. Loves me some pretentious, distopian, pseudo-Cyber Punk stuffs. Really, I do.

To be honest, an Abe movie never really interested me. I mean, he's a good character, but meh... I just don't think I could sit through an entire movie with nothing but Abe.

And now I actually have a reason to visit GD.

Havoc 10-30-2006 01:07 PM

If Lorne is in charge then I will be something cool. To bad it's not Oddworld, but in the long term it might indeed be a good idea.

Rich 10-30-2006 02:12 PM

An Oddworld film would've been important to us and OWI, but in doing this they are expanding their boundaries and going where no-one has gone before, which is important for the whole film market, which is a bolder, braver thing to do.

Xavier 10-30-2006 02:30 PM

I'm truely glad you guys changed your oppinion about it so quickly...

I truely can't wait for CS,
oh, and this should definatly stay in the gd

Bullet Magnet 10-30-2006 02:32 PM

Citizen Siege GD forum in the future?

Slaveless 10-30-2006 04:29 PM

Actually, as the movie gets to be known a little better to the public, there should be a CS discussion forum since it will get less and less related to Oddworld. There would have to be the Citizen Siege and Related Discussion Forum, but I guess that is too long.

I'm still curious why OWI are making a new homepage for the Oddworld website, if their main project is non-Oddworld related.

It'll be about an hour and a half.

Haha, that was lamer than a parapalegic.

Anyways, I think that kinda sucks. I was really hoping for an Oddworld flick. Hopefully it'll turn out good though.

OANST 10-30-2006 05:55 PM

Wasn't it, though? Nothing better than really half assed humor. Anyway, I haven't changed my mind. Lorne is a sellout and the movie will suck. We'll never make an fps my ass you hypocritical turd.

ziggy 10-30-2006 06:25 PM

I guess this isn't that bad after all, all I hope is that it has a good story and is creative

Xavier 10-30-2006 10:25 PM

Citizen is a Project of Oddworld Inhabitants, so it's normal it should be on their main page.

oh and OANST, you seriously need to tell me exactly what you have against Citizen Siege

Where did you get this picture from? Now is this really going to be the title-page of the oddworld movie?
I never thought that Lorne would show the american flag in it...!

Xavier 10-31-2006 01:13 AM

it's the flag of Americo... with dollar signs instead of stars

Creepy Doc 10-31-2006 01:28 AM

Ah, now I see it.
Sorry, the signs were just too small for me.

Havoc 10-31-2006 01:37 AM

Haha, Lorne taking the piss at the American flag, I love this movie already!

No there isn’t… :fuzconf: What thread have you been reading?

GameSpot have an interview with Lorne and Sherry:

Xavier 10-31-2006 03:15 AM

about the logo, you guys might be intrested to know that "the Eye in the Hand" is an allready existing and wide-spread symbol.

:

The pancultural Eye-in-Hand icon manifests the integral and interactive bond between two essential human functions: sensing/observation (the Eye) and doing/acting (the Hand). Together these two abilities represent the most effective symbolic condensation of the ideals of human existence - omniscience (all-knowing) and omnipotence (all-powerful) - in a very simple two-part icon: the Eye in the Hand.
Having them bound in a shackle clearly implies that the film will deal with a world where you'r not free to use those rights anymore .

more info about the symbol here: http://www.darkfiber.com/eyeinhand/

Nate 10-31-2006 03:34 AM

It's also a common motif in the Middle East and is a traditional symbol of sorts in both Islam and Judaism called a Khamsa.

Hell, I have one on my keychain.

Cullen Heath 10-31-2006 06:25 AM

Not sure if I am allowed to post the actualy picture, so here is the link.

I didn't have anything concrete against the movie until you showed this picture. How trite can you get?

Bullet Magnet 10-31-2006 10:21 AM

It's just one of those images they make to convey the feeling and the issues in their project, like those in the chapter headings of The Art of OWI.
