It's cool! I just think the horns look incorrect... you know, the way how they spin. But else, it's really nice! :)

My goodness! Just fantastic, Alector! Would you mind telling me each and every step that you take in creating your art?

Alector 10-07-2006 11:21 AM

Thanks for all the nice comments. :D
This tiome, I don't have a new picture. Shame on me, I know but a new one will come soon. I currently have this fetish for drawing Grubbs. Hehe.

Anyway, Cullen. If I would tell you each step of my art, you would have to read a lot. Best thing is to watch someone drawing. One day, I will do some traditional art tutorials, though. Important is that you first have to improve your skills and practice a lot until you got your own unique style. Everyone has an own style , that's what I meant.
I always stick on details, which is the reason that it takes so long to finish a picture. I need to learn not to lose myself into them to get otherresults, though. But I'm happy that you like my art.
Maybe you have some specific questions of how I work. ;)

Well, you use Photoshop, right? I was wondering, more what the steps are that you do after you had drawn the actual picture, for you art to end up like this?

Creepy Doc 10-08-2006 09:51 AM

Alector, you starts to talk like a real artist!

Alector 10-08-2006 01:29 PM

Thanks, Creepy Dog, even for this. Hehe. I re-read the last post and actually didn't see anything which could sound like an artist. ;)
Maybe you're the artist to see things like that. Hehe

Cullen Heath, it depends, if I want to do a digital drawing or painting.
For paintings, paint over the lineart on layers above so that the main drawing isn't visible anymore in the end. For the latest picture, I scribbled the outline with a smooth pencil and painted on layers below. The outline layer was set on multiply so that I could see what to do. I used a wide transparent brush with a low pressure to get that result. Sometimes, I mix brushes, use hard ones or airbrush for the background.
It's always a sense of the picture content and what technique I chose. There are so many techniques you can you there, it's incredible. :)
