Arhgh , the OWF ship be goin down methinks!

OWF seems to be slowly dying to me , because OWI itself hasnt been very active , its mainly just the movie . Im sure OWF will be up and perky when the movie comes out . ;)

skillya_glowi 05-20-2006 02:41 PM

Well, it's definitely going to be up and perky, with a fresh wave of coming members, but I believe that OWF won't die until everyone here believes that it will die. I don't know if you'll understand what I mean, but we're all connected by one major thing, right? Even though we come from the most diverse backgrounds, we're still the same about one thing: we're passionate fans of the Oddworld Universe.

paramiteabe 06-03-2006 03:32 AM

As an old member stopping in to see the old forums again I do think these forums have gone the way of the dodo!

Oddworld, the Oddworld we knew is dorment at this time if not extinct. Oddworld has changed and we just don't know anything. And it is sad but we move on. Ideas on Oddworld grow thin and hope lies in fancorner to keep us sane from loseing Oddworld forever. The only hope I have is the movies but a full length feature film can take up to three years to make because of all the special effects and stuff.

Al the Vykker 06-09-2006 07:55 AM

I think as long as their is a steady group of members or management, some interest in the "Old" Oddworld or any interest in the concept of Oddworld speculation or whatever, you'll see a few new members, you'll get a few annoying members, and you'll have a bunch of oldies still on this forum. Not to mention this forum has evolved several times and gone through multiple cycles just like life, as long as the management doesn't disappear I think we'll have this forum for a very long time to come.

Statikk HDM 06-24-2006 08:21 PM

It'll never die, it'll always live in my heart. I don't think I enjoy it as much as I did in the "way back", say 2 years ago, but this place still has plenty of members. If that Oddworld movie ever comes out this place will be jumpin'. Anyhow, I apologize for being a grognard and spamming up the place. Peace.

I've got to ask: Who were Dino and Wired? It sounds like a pretty infamous incident.

AquaticAmbi 06-25-2006 08:57 AM

Dino was a real multi. Wired was a joke multi. That's all that needs to be said.

Neither is of any importance now though. Everyone's just trying to move on.

I think that the forum is a clean and safe environment. Everyone is so friendly and there are more users than ever. I say congratulations to the forum staff who made this place possible.

Rubber_Soul 06-26-2006 11:00 AM

I think the forum here is fine. I haven't seen anything wrong with it. The moderators here seem helpful and nice, everyone i seem to come by are welcoming.

I found that half the people voted for "too many stupid people" was rather amusing..*LAWLz*

Pff. I wouldn't be saying, "More than ever" because you were only here a few months. Clean and safe environment? Who wants to be in a clean and safe environment? You just have to live a little.

I'm fine with the population. This is such a small forum that everyone, like, knows each other. Not literally, but metaphorically. I like it the way it is.

I was just giving a nice compliment. By the way, I've been here more than a few months as a guest.

I like the fact that all the moderating team knows each other and that they're alot warmer to newbies and other members. [Perhaps that's my biased opinion though.]

When I joined the admin staff weren't as nice to newbies, it was very much a case of them being better than the ordinary members. But as the staff has changed and all the mods and admins have grown up her it's changed alot.

I agree, when I first found out about the Oddworld Forums I found that the newbies were usually ignored. But that is the past now.

skillya_glowi 06-27-2006 10:53 AM

Auggh, you lucky dawgs all rubbing elbows with each other in Europe...and I'm stuck here in America. Uggh. Even though I was born in Europe.

SeaRex 06-27-2006 07:21 PM

I'll tell you something funny about the current state of this forum.

There seems to be a "Hey! It kinda looks like there is one or two people leaving, so I'll also leave instead of trying to contribute or doing anything useful, because that makes me look cool and creates a problem that was never there. Sweet." trend going around.

Good job, guys.

used:) 06-27-2006 09:04 PM

Good summary of my duties here, SeaRex. ;)

As I have said before, it's all gravy. Although that one remark MF made about Jamaicans was pretty crude.

Daxter King 06-27-2006 09:06 PM

Hey I contributed by creating that sock thread and most of you ingrants didn't give it a chance. I have no idea how many active users there are, but I know it is low.

used:) 06-27-2006 09:19 PM

It......was......SOCKS.

Jordan 06-28-2006 06:38 AM

I think the forum has too many people who never post, it is really frustrating me!! There have been loads of Noobs signing up too, I won't name any :p

Nate 06-28-2006 06:43 AM

Eh, who cares if they never post? Just pretend they don't exist. When they really do. And they're peering over your figurative shoulder and reading what you just wrote. I should really stop posting at 1 in the morning.

As for noobs, they always sign up. It's part of the normal forum turnover.

100 noobs sign up
50 actually post anything
20 stay longer than a week
10 stay after the ritual hazing of being sworn at and harshly criticised for making simple mistakes
5 don't get banned in the first three months
and
2 of them are not Reece Charles.

SeaRex 06-28-2006 07:05 AM

Lawlz, nate.

I posted in it. Criticism denied.

Well, I am a newbie, and I posted quite a lot in the last couple of days.

Jordan 06-28-2006 08:18 AM

Lord Vulcher, you ARE new, but you aint a noob! You don't act Noobish, you're cool! Lmao nate_dog that was funny! :D

It's quite sad how all of the actual good new members like Paris and TomFrogman have to pack up and go so quickly. It's like a sifter, the finest sand goes through and then ugly coarse rocks stay behind.

skillya_glowi 06-28-2006 03:01 PM

Ah...

Seriously, what's with this trend of leaving? We have a couple new members now and then, but rarely do they actually do anything, as implied by Nate_dog.

And, for whoever was asking, as of now there are 258 active members. Not exactly much, as compared to the multi-million communities like Gaia or MySpace.

used:) 06-28-2006 06:21 PM

MySpace is at an intelligently lower level though. Plus it's a fad. Things like that always have multi-million communities.

Lord Vulcher 06-29-2006 09:09 AM

Yes, I seem to notice that a lot of people have started to leave, like T-Nex and Cyber-Slig

used:) 06-29-2006 11:30 AM

Wow, two is a big number.

I find that the majority of people that leave are ones that sort of just showed up, never really did much, which is fine with me because it only lightens the load.

skillya_glowi 06-29-2006 01:56 PM

True. But plenty of good members are leaving too, more than mentioned by LV.
