by the way, where did you get your installer?

oddveteran93 02-16-2006 09:25 PM

www.clickteam.com

Abeguy 02-16-2006 09:59 PM

I don't pay, so screw that, lol

oddveteran93 02-17-2006 03:15 AM

I need like an official tester or something to test my products and parts of the game. Someone who can give me comments and criticise me :D. Any volunteers? If you're interested give me three good reasons and I'll make the final decision and include you in my credits. Let the competition begin!!! :P

Cullen Heath 02-17-2006 11:28 AM

Ohhh, I will for sure!

If you mean reasons why you should choose us then here are some:

I am a huge fan of Oddworld, as many of us are.
I'll know what you should improve on, because I have had experiences with Oddworld games and making them.
I love testing other's work and giving complements and constructive criticism.
I could for sure help you as well, if it's needed. Like going to help find something on the internet or some Oddworld songs, sprites, ect.

My application for Tester Status:
1.) I'm really picky about fan-made games of any kind. For game play or for graphics, I tend to note things that are sloppy, and things that aren't as smooth as possible.
2.) I myself am working on a Super Mario World hack, and I know how it can be to design a level and have stuff not work. Therefore, I'll end up trying to do almost everything conceivable in a level to make sure it runs smoothly. This will likely involve many deaths and a lot of time spent, but ... no worries.
3.) I'm awesome, and you need testers.

oddveteran93 02-17-2006 03:19 PM

It's gonna be a tough decision... I'll post the final decision at about 7:00 PM Australian time (GMT+10:00), so everyone has a fair chance to "apply". ACH! I forgot to mention one more thing. IYou need to have Windows installed cuz I haven't got it working on any other systems yet.

Abeguy 02-17-2006 07:37 PM

I'm a great tester, cause
1. I'm a pro, I mean PRO at Game Maker
2. I can give good input and ideas and tell you even how to add them in if you like them, can anyone else do that?
3. I can provide sprites, backgrounds, and other shizznit if you need.

oddveteran93 02-18-2006 05:06 PM

I screwed up big time wit my promise. Anyway:

Official Tester: Cullen Heath
Technical advice: Dave
Technical Support and Resources: Abeguy

Dave 02-18-2006 06:25 PM

Cool.
Can't wait for a new beta.

Cullen Heath 02-19-2006 03:02 PM

Awesome! Thank you, Oddveteran!

Just let me know when you are ready for me to test the next level/improvement of level!

By the way, are you going to do more levels?

oddveteran93 02-19-2006 08:56 PM

Ok let me explain....again.

There will be no more BETAs. I'm starting to work on the actual demo this weekend. The demo will have:

*Music and sounds
*All controls
*Menu with save and load
*Animations and cutscences (hopefully)
*Installer
*Compatibility for other Operating systems. (not very likely but I'll try)
*More levels and characters

mudling 02-20-2006 02:43 AM

sorry, i'm having troubles downloaing the game. :(
it sounds great though. :D

oddveteran93 02-20-2006 02:46 AM

It might've been deleted by Rapid Share. does anyone know a good site where I can upload my game?

Abeguy 02-20-2006 10:36 AM

gm uploader was my choice, but they shut down, and since, I've only uploaded one, but I don't remember where
I'll check

Cullen Heath 02-25-2006 05:35 PM

Hey, Oddveteran.
Okay, I was playing the BETA again, looking for glitches and I found 2.

The first one is at the beggining. You know the first ledge that you drop down to, when you first start? You can jump to the left, off that ledge, and then in mid-air switch and start moving to the right. This allows you to go straight through the portal without going through the level. You might want to make that first ledge go all the way to the left so that "cheat" will no longer be possible.

Now, the second one is right after you jump off the ledge that the Slig is on. If you jump too far to the right, you will get caught in a glitch off the screen, unable to get back into view. I would suggest just making a wall leading up, on the very right, so that it blocks Abe from going too far to the right.

Hope this helped and that you fix them.

oddveteran93 02-26-2006 11:26 PM

Yeah.. I need to get to work soon. I've just been very busy and have had some recent health problems so i'll get on it as soon as possible

mitsur 02-27-2006 08:23 PM

Hey, I was browsing through this, and I read about the story problem. Do you want any help with that?

oddveteran93 02-27-2006 08:48 PM

Yes I do. But like I said I don't have a lot of time so I haven't even started production. Thankfully, next week is the last week before my holidays.

Off Topic
Hey mistur I see you're a hl2 fan. I just got hl2 on xbox having played half life one on computer and by the way it totally rocks. You gotta love those headcrabs!

Edit: Cullen Heath, I'd like to assign you a task, nothing difficult just some really basic testing. Please respond through PM.

Jarrardo 03-09-2006 05:03 AM

Err... I walked into that square object near the starting point and died.

I clicked ok but then it quit outta the game. A bug?

Dave 03-09-2006 08:08 AM

You played the first beta, I bet.
The okay=quit game was fixed in beta 2.

How's it coming. oddveteran?

T-nex 03-09-2006 09:59 AM

What about the sprites?? Are they gonna be any better? Like with shading and all? Just askin... Otherwise it's a fun beta game thingy XD

oddveteran93 03-09-2006 07:22 PM

Production Status: Currently testing different soundtracks which should be suitable for the demo. I'm also trtying to get support DLLs for Mac users. Production is pretty slow since I've been extremely busy but I'll start making all the sprites soon and maybe write some scrips for the ahem, "game engine". The sprites will improve, but don't expect anything as good as OW games. BTW this is the first game I've made. If it's successful, I'll probably make a sequel.

The current working title is: "Mudokon Escape". I might use it or use something different.

sligco 03-09-2006 07:32 PM

is there any openings to join?
