Yeah , he powerful as! is sekto in any way related to glukkons? he looks like some kind of result from an ugly glukkon/squid crossbreeding experiment gone horribly wrong.

Please do a search on the forums before asking a question that has been discussed extensively in the past.

I don't think the Stranger could have reached Sekto's office if it weren't for the efforts of the Grubbs both on land and firing projectiles. Obviously the argument “He's a Steef” doesn't hold much water because the old Steef haven't done a very good job at surviving.

Which makes me wonder why our Steef did so well. I can think of two things that separate the Stranger from other Steef: his crossbow and his scrawniness. Might his inferior strength actual allow him the agility he needed to succeed where past Steef haven't?

Nate 02-07-2006 08:49 AM

I get the impression that all Steefs are quite agile, irrespective of their size. So I think his scrawniness would have hindered him more than it helped.

And isn't the crossbow a traditional Steef weapon?

What from?

The crossbow is custom built by the Stranger. Maybe they are a traditional weapon used by Steefs, but apart from its heritagey look, I don't think there's anything that says so.

Maybe the Steefs who guarded the Grubbs got used to just enjoy the glory and fame Grubbs gave them, and got spoiled like little pet poodles in the time there were no threats.
Our Stranger might have had a wilder, more independent backround and actually knew how to fight or use a crossbow.

Nate 02-08-2006 12:16 AM

I don't think so. Despite the glory the Grubbs lavish on Stranger, it's also mixed with considerable amounts of doubt. I don't think they would put up with a Steef Protector who didn't pull his weight.

Paramite Mask 02-13-2006 04:33 PM

I agree with nate_dog. When Stranger is revealed as a Steef and meets the Grubbs, one Grubb whispers " He still looks kinda scrawny for a Steef, though". That shows that the Grubbs had a sense of doubt, but they hide it well because they know that the Steef stil exist, even though he's probably the last one besides Sekto(before he was killed). Oh well, it's just a thought.

Yeh, I agree with both you guys. I mean, when you've just fought your way through the Wolvark base and get to the boat, doesn't the Grubb you talk to let slip about some of them doubting Stranger? But then kinda covers himself with 'but only a true Steef warrior could have fought all them Wolvarks'... So maybe they weren't entirely sure and sent Stranger on a sort of 'test'.

That's exactly why they sent him to make his way through the Wolvark Docks, to test he was a Steef Warrior. I thought that was relatively clear in the game. Notice they say the only way to get to the Boat Cave is through the facility, but there's actually a shorter way that avoids it completely - that's why the Grubbs get there before Stranger does. I think Stranger even questions how they did that.

Did he get his horns surgically removed? Or loose them in fight? They never explained why the stranger didn't have steef horns.

Nate 03-02-2006 07:02 PM

No, they didn't. And we don't know why.

Some people (myself included) think he had them surgically removed at an earlier date. Others just think he's still too young to have them, or that he may even be a female steef.

Paris 03-02-2006 09:04 PM

He makes quite a few jokes about his.. um.. man-ness. I doubt he's a girl. Did he have stubs of horns? I haven't seen the cut scene in awhile.

Abeguy 03-02-2006 09:33 PM

yeah, I knew Stranger was a steef long before the game came out. I remember when we thought that was his name :D I havn't played the game yet but I knew too much before it came out

heh...moolah for killing a steef huh?
*walks into Sekto's Office*
Me:"You wanted a Steef?"
Sekto:"yup, where is it?"
Me:"right here" *shoots sekto* "Now wheres my moolah?"

Xavier 03-03-2006 02:41 AM

on doc's sheets you can see the rest of cut horns on stranger's head (ala Hellboy)
So I guess Doc removed them during one of their previous meetings
