Of course they can. Didn't you ever see the King of the Hill where Hank got raped by a dolphin? God, the ignorance level here is at an all-time high. :p

Daxter King 01-09-2006 04:17 PM

I remember that episode! Cindy is a girls name. I will laugh when the dolphin leaves and never comes back.I doubt the dolphin ment it he probably just went for the herring.

Icarus, I find that in general the entire stupidity level of the forums hits it's peak level whenever you're online. So get back to talking about the dolphin marriage otherwise I'll be forced to circumsize your face.

Icarus 01-09-2006 05:48 PM

The mental image of you sucking on a wrinkly shirt will be henceforth forever burned into my imagination.

Can we get back on topic please? Thanks.

Um... I'm not really sure if I believe an animal can have romantic feelings toward humans. That's all I'll say on the matter.
From a scientific standpoint there are only two species on the planet who know such an emotion as Love. Thats us, and some bird (if I remember correctly).
From a natural standpoint, I'd say we can't be sure if we are the only ones with a love emotion. With Dolphins being as smart as they are, it could be that they are able to fall in love, but maybe only with their own species.
Although, unless I see reason to believe otherwise I just think that animals can get very attached to a human which they know is a good friend. Such as their owner, or caretaker. But not in terms of love. Not in the terms we give the word anyway.

Dolphin-Human-Mariage= wrong
Oy, Icarus my boy. If marrieng a dolphin is wrong, just imagine how wrong it would be if you married anything that breathes... :fuzemb:

Statikk HDM 01-10-2006 08:14 AM

Whats with chicks and dolphins?
Lay off Icarus. Bestiality is an abberation.

SHUT THE FUCK UP.

I don't know how many times I've told you to stop posting pointless SHIT, but this is the absolute last straw. You obviously don't have the cognitive capacity or attention span to post on an online forum, so say goodbye, you've just been banned. Forever. Finally.

There. It's done. Sorry it took so long, everybody.

Abe 01 01-10-2006 08:59 AM

woooo go Searex !
I dont see any other point in marrying the dolphin other than to get attention, she'll probly give it up after a couple of months

OANST 01-10-2006 09:11 AM

Searex just took the kick to the ass. Congratulations.

I fail to see how you can measure love in a human, let alone a bird. In the words of the Oracle: "Nobody can tell you you’re in love. You just know it. Through and through. Balls to bones."

Havoc, could you PLEASE stick to moderating the fan corner that you were assigned to?

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...tid=3665&stc=1

As for the topic at hand, marrying a dolphin is patently rediculous, and I don't have any idea why it's even being discussed with any degree of seriousness. Despite Havoc's claims that there are only two animals capable of loving, the scientific fact remains that we don't actually know anything about the emotions of animals. There is a theory that suggests emotions to be a built in "punishment and reward" system that encourages and discourages certain behaviour with the object of survival as a species in mind. We know that emotions encourage us to have sex, and it makes sense that emotions encourage animals to reproduce too. It's therefore logical to assume that all animals have emotions of some sort.

I would have said that just the same, moderator or not. No-one else did and I expected you to know better then to take a thread way off-topic like that.

Anyway, as in love love, I'm not sure about the bird thing. There is this bird that, like humans, like to live in families. They pick a life partner and get a family with it and stay together for a long time. If that actualy has something to do with love, I'm not sure off.

Firstly, one would need to take the likelyhood of a human falling in love with an animal (for genuine reasons other than publicity), then multiply that by the unlikely event of an animal making the concious decision to become romantic with a human.

SHUT THE **** UP.
Second.

You know, being the skeptical little whores that we all are, we might just be overlooking something authentic.

And Dino, your diagram speaks so much truth that I just crapped my pants.

(Sweet gorilla of Manilla, there's discussion afoots!)

Because 99% of the time, off-topic conversations end after a few posts regardless of whether or not there is any moderator intervention. In fact the one that Havoc 'intercepted' was already finished by the time he got there.

Or they continue as a side-note debate alongside the main debate, as here.

Was that supposed to make no sense? I think I can see what you're saying but ... damn maybe it's too early in the day for me to be thinking this hard?

I dunno. As far as I can see, animals express love in a purely survival driven way. You could say that, in a more complex way, so do we. But if you strip it all down, at the root of love is survival of a species, the human species. Animals such as cats and dogs will be affectionate toward their owners, because they know that if they do not show affection they don't get fed. Cats that get fed even though they've shown no affection will remain unimprinted if no other handling is made, which demonstrates that cats can learn the advantages of being affectionate. This kind of materialistic affection most probably associates with various emotions, E.G. happiness which triggers serotonin release, and over time probably develops into a sort of sentimentalistic, loving relationship, which has the advantage of reinforcing and making permanent this survival technique.

I wonder if anyone's married their car? or computer, "I now pronounce you husband, and nerd"

weird relationships
wo\man and dvd or vhs
wo\man and tv
wo\man and cardboard statue
wo\man and random kitchen appliance
wo\man and floor (or bed)
dog and cat
moose and lobster
OWF and Microsoft
the list is endless

Leto 01-13-2006 09:08 AM

My my, we do add lots of gold to a thread, don't we?

AquaticAmbi 01-13-2006 07:36 PM

Um... I have absolutely nothing else to contribute, but I am curious to see some proof of the marriages to animals in America or otherwise. Anyone have any good links? I don't feel like looking it up for myself. :p

Also, in relation to "wo\man and random kitchen appliance", I must post this link. Read and be amused. 'Tis a funny poem by Tim Burton. :)
