Ha. I read that in 5th grade. It was good.

But if you want the book it was GREATLY inspired by, you should read '1984.' Or some Kurt Vonnegut short story that has to do with the same subject matter. I forgot the name. But a ballerina gets shot. It's brilliant.

Salamander 12-17-2005 06:18 PM

manga being backwards is traditional japanese style ( i think )

Yeah, I liked the Giver, I like reading those symbolism filled texts. It improves the mind muscles!

*Shakes head at ignorance* Firstly, not all manga books are read 'backwards'. And secondly, you are poo-pooing thousands of years of Japanese culture. Shame on you. *Attacks with Newspaper*

And yes, '1984' is an inspired book.

I've read dozens of books, but my favourites have to be Brave New World, A Clockwork Orange, and a fantasy series, The Sword of Truth, by Terry Goodkind. They're fantastic books.

Kimon 12-18-2005 06:59 AM

Ah yes, the Redwall series is surprisingly fun to read. I love dem bookses.

metroixer 12-18-2005 09:47 AM

Oh how could I forget the Giver? I read that in 6th grade for a project, and I loved it. :D

Cullen Heath 12-18-2005 09:57 AM

Yup, its a pretty dang good book.

Icarus 12-19-2005 04:12 PM

i'm sorry, i dont read....

just kidding, the coolest book i've read was secret window, secret garden by Stephen King

Gooooooood Boooooooook,
i recomend it.

Leto 12-19-2005 04:15 PM

I think I speak for everyone in saying that Stephen King's writings have become increasngly uninspiring.

[/obvious]

Though It and The Shining ftw.

How To Kill A Mockingbird is sooooooooooo good.

I really dont like manga though.

OMG!!! I read that book in like.....8th grade

Cullen Heath 12-19-2005 08:33 PM

Did you like it?
I thought it was great!

CheeseOfGlory 12-19-2005 09:32 PM

Stephen King is an amazing writer, but yeah his plotlines are getting stranger and less interesting (plus his endings usually suck). I read IT in....5th grade maybe? Still love that book though, I've re-read it at least three times since then. As for fantasy, David Edding's books are usually pretty good. I liked them more than the whole lord of the rings dealy just because they were so damn entertaining. Hmmm...taco

I'd have to agree on the Giver being one of my favorite books...been a long time since I've read it though. Enders Game is an extraordinary book too and out of all the Harry Potter books Goblet of Fire is my favorite.

Cullen Heath 12-19-2005 10:12 PM

I havent read any of the Harry Potter books. Even though they probably are, they dont seem too great.
