May I ask why we are asking of Microsoft to do this, and not Oddworld Inhabitants? It would be them who would recode the game to make it compatible with the emulator.

My Xbox has been on its last breath for quite some time, and I was really hoping that the Oddworld games would be added to the BC list.

It really, REALLY bugs me to hear that Stranger didn't sell well. It was one of the best games that I've played in sooo long. I thought it was advertised well and it seemed to be getting a lot of publicity. It's todays gamers that are afraid of anything new. Stranger deserved to be a Platinum Hit (as did Psychonauts).

Xavier 01-09-2006 08:18 AM

well the folks at Microsoft are acting as they are creating the emulators themself, that's why we ask it to them.
on the other hand OWI won't do it now as they don't have any programmers in their studios anymore.

CarboN 01-09-2006 09:01 AM

I hope this works.

Let's give tips for writing an polite email.
I think it'd help many.
I can't think of any. ._.

Misspelling, here we come;
Dear Microsoft

I have always been a very big fan of Oddworld games.
For my grief, Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath aren't Xbox360 compatible.

I had considered to buy this console, but then had second thoughts when I saw the compatible games list.
I am a member of Oddworld forums, and people there would all be very grateful for the chance to play Oddworld on Xbox360. In fact, the uncompatability of Oddworld games is a restraint for many in buying the mentioned console.

Both of them are classics in their own way.
Munch's Oddysee was a very imaginative launching game for the Xbox and a feast for the eyes,
and Stranger's Wrath, while not getting the advertisement it deserved, was a very enthraling and magnificent game.

These games express the creativity of Oddworld Inhabitants and, in my opinion, deserve a place on the base of amazing digital entertainment and gaming power, the Xbox360.

Thank you for your time.

Had to add a little sugary praise of xbox360.
I feel so cheap.

Xavier 01-09-2006 09:41 AM

good one CarboN!! I like it very much.
It's true I'm stil hesitating to buy the X360 because it doesn't play the oddworld games
I'm wondering when they are going to update the back games list

The Marching Mudokon 01-09-2006 03:48 PM

Just sent Microsoft an e-mail knidly explaining why they should put Stranger and Munch on the new Xbox 360.

Edit: I just got this back:
Thanks for sending us your comments on Xbox 360 backward compatibility.
We've just received your email. While we may not have time to directly
respond to your email - we value your input and appreciate you taking
the time to send us your thoughts.

Sincerely -
Xbox

Did anyone else get this e-mail or did they have "time" to e-mail you properly?

Xavier 01-09-2006 10:26 PM

I've got it too... I believe it is done automaticly. ;)

The Marching Mudokon 01-10-2006 12:45 AM

I'd say your right, otherwise the guy writing the e-mails will have a big job to do now that we've all started to e-mail Microsoft. I wonder if they will directly respond to any of our e-mails.

Xavier 01-10-2006 01:27 AM

actually someone did get an answer: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showpo...1&postcount=26 ;)

Software Bug 01-12-2006 11:28 AM

I'm thinking , when Microsoft let the game company's create the emulator patches
Is there any chance that OWI will be able to do that bechause they dont have programmers anymore??

Oddish 01-12-2006 01:20 PM

Something just came into mind.

The Xbox 360 has been released a while ago now, but there is no information if the OW games can be played on it. Well if someone does already have the 360 and OW games, then decides to play them on the console, they wouldn't work, right? Well if they do eventualy become backwards compatible would it mean you would have to buy new OW games or an Xbox360?

I'm just curious on how it works, not that I'm planning on getting the console.

OANST 01-12-2006 02:16 PM

You would have to download a patch.

Jordan 01-14-2006 07:17 AM

I'll try

I'll send 3 e-mails to them, I'm not planning to get a 360 but it's for just in case I get one and for you Odd people out there who have a 360! This is going to be my message:

Dear Microsoft,

I am a very big fan of the Oddworld games for the Xbox and the PS1, and have been wondering, you have created the Xbox 360 so it can't play the Xbox 1 Oddworld games, I know you are very busy but I just want to ask you to try and work on putting them on the 360, In the future I may be planning to get one, so I hope you do your best to get the Oddworld games up and running on the 360. Good Luck

Yours Sincerely,

Jordan Yates, A big fan of Oddworld and Xbox

Software Bug 01-15-2006 09:51 AM

cool letter Jordan boi
good of you to write it even you dont have an xbox360 ;)

if the patch is released will we notice it easly or do we need to go to the xbox site and watch the b/c list or put the games in our xbox360 and see what happens...

EDIT :
:

We've been informed today that there are going to be no more Backward Compatibility updates released for the Xbox 360 until March at the earliest. Microsoft's David Reid has stated that the team who do the BC work are on holiday throughout January and will start work on priority titles when they return. But from what it sounds like, there will be only a few more updates released through 2006.

bad news :(
