Really? Is that why you wouldn't even walk up to the store to buy a 25 pence pack of rizlas and 50 pence disposable lighter so that your brother could roll up a joint? Because you love weed so much?

Jacob 07-30-2005 02:43 AM

Why're people going on about how great Weed is (i'm talking about the past few months when someone else mentioned the shtuffs, not just in this topic)? Weed isn't great, Weed shouldn't be legalised, now stop making a big thing about it and grow up.

I loathe people who bitch at the Government for not legalising it, well, personally, i'm glad. Weed is vile, horrid smelling substance that can cause paranoia. Euck.

Godlesswanderer 07-30-2005 04:56 AM

I don't go on about how great it is. All I said was I agree that it's better than alcohol. To be honest, I really don't care if it gets legalised or not.

No, it was because I had no money (no, not even 75p) and he wouldn't give me any money to buy them. If he had given me the money, I still wouldn't have done it. Like I told him, he as plenty of friends that could have done it for him.

Oh, and if you'll look up at my post, you'll see I never said I love it. I just said that I agreed it is better than alcohol.

Disgruntled Intern 07-30-2005 03:21 PM

I'm a raging alcoholic. I'm notorious for going on week-long benders...Hence my infrequent visiting patterns.

Anyway, I love Olde English 800 Malt Liquor, Schlitz malt liquor, Jager, Jack daniels and Mickey's big mouths. My mixed drink of choice is the 'irish car bomb'.

Weed isn't great

I beg to differ.

One could argue that alcohol is much more vile, and definetly much more horrid-smelling. As for paranoia...... ?

Weed causes... nobody knows. Nobody actually knows what weed causes. There's no evidence to say that it causes anything, even though it's been found that it has the potential, it's never been found to actually do anything. Weed can smell like any number of things, and although the stuff you buy on the street smells like a cross between B/O, freshly cut lawn grass and coffee, the good stuff can smell like lemon, orange, citrus, and even bubblegum. The only reason I make any money at all from weed is because it's illegal, if it was legalised people would just grow their own and I wouldn't make a penny, niether would any other dealer. You don't even have to smoke the stuff, you get a high that's 3 times stronger if you eat it.

Now let's compare that to alcohol. Alcohol always makes people smell horrible, makes people behave like a total idiot, causes violence, road accidents, and carries some very serious health risks.

Still think Alcohol is better than weed?

Weed makes people behave like total idiots, and causes road accidents as well.

I've noticed it coming up in conversations here more and more as well Jacob, I think it's just people trying to show off.

So lets turn the topic back to alcohol, shall we?

Do some people hassle people in other places for drinking mixed drinks like vodka and raspberry etc. instead of beer? They do here, it's so lame.

Actually there's no evidence to show that it causes road accidents. In every road accident case where THC was present, alcohol was also present. Moreover, it has been shown in tests of people driving under the influence of marijuana, that while it does very slightly diminish driving ability, it makes people more cautious.

As for people bringing up the topic of cannabis with a view to showing off, I would like to point out that while that may have been the case elsewhere, it is evidently not the case here, and I have not found it to be the case elsewhere, so I personally highly doubt it.

Actually, it does. I had a friend--well, we were friends years ago, but drifted--that crashed his car because he was smoking weed while driving. Ugh, he wasn't even wearing his seatbelt, so he went straight through the windshield. Fortunately and shockingly, he survived.

Another friend, who has recently stopped smoking, did it while driving a few months ago and said he could have gotten seriously hurt at least once. I forget what he said exactly, but he was all high and not paying enough attention, then either his friend suddenly pointed out or he suddenly realized he had been driving in the wrong for at least a minute. Lucky for him, there had been no on-coming traffic.

Anyway, go ahead and reply to tell me how this can't be true and such.

Jacob 07-31-2005 01:31 PM

Weed, from what i understand, dampens the emotions and reaction timing. So, it's equally as dangerous as alcohol when it comes to driving vehicles.

'Now let's compare that to alcohol. Alcohol always makes people smell horrible, makes people behave like a total idiot, causes violence, road accidents, and carries some very serious health risks.'

I never denied that.

'Still think Alcohol is better than weed?'

I also never said that.

From what i've seen with many-a-person, doing Weed is like opening the gateway to other drugs, which may eventually lead to Heroine. Lovely(!)

Anytoast, ironically i'm hungover from lastnight, so i can't be bothered to post, hence the lack of passion.

ANN NEELY 07-31-2005 02:22 PM

I don't drink and never will if I can. I'm trying not to give in to my redneck blood.

I never said that it didn't happen, I just said that there's no evidence, or at least no convincing evidence that weed is linked to car accidents. Your friend's cases may be genuine but at the same time may be entirely as a result of alcohol, which has been found to have FAR more profound effects on driving ability than cannabis, which requires large doses to make someone dangerous behind the wheel. It has been said that even if there have been a few accidents linked to cannabis, they are still probably hugely outnumbered by the cases involving alcohol, so much so that the cannabis accidents are borderline insignificant.

People tend to forget that such evidence is not as damaging to the "legalise cannabis" initiative as they might think. Mainly because nobody has ever said that they know for a fact that it's harmless... they just know that it's infinately less harmful than smoking or drinking. As much as people will struggle to disprove and damage the reputation of marijuana, intentionally or otherwise, MJ makes it's own reputation by being the only drug without any related health problems in all of recorded medical history.

The gateway argument is an oft beaten drum, and one that tends to come about as a misrepresentation of the facts rather than a viable conclusion based on findings. Because marijuana is such a popular drug, many people who try other drugs have already tried cannabis. As a result, this can be made to look like cannabis introduces people to the drugs, but in actual fact most studies have demonstrated that it's the peer pressure of drug-taking friends that most often introduces people to the other drugs. Marijuana itself has not been shown to ignite any desire to try other drugs, and in most cases people who smoke the weed tend to be against the taking of harder drugs. Also, because the sale of harder drugs carries a heavier sentence, most dealers will only acquire harder substances as and when clients request it, therefore they usually do not have the amount of drugs required to try to sell to all or some of their weed-only clients.

Now Dino, did people say there was no evidence of your being bisexual? (well, they did, but they were idiots). As for the whole peer pressure thing, people in my school do drugs left and right. I don't know anybody who has gone as far as using a needle, but they usually do smoking. Alcohool is more popular than smoking in my scool. What I hate the most about drugs are those BORING assemblies they drag us to. I fell asleep in one that lasted for two hours. And then you se these big popular athletes that say not to do drugs, but they take frigin steroids for god's sake! It makes me sick how we spend all this time and money on "the war on drugs" when we could just advise people not to do it and leave it at that. It's the people's own fault if they use drugs, so let them be.

Rich 08-07-2005 01:32 AM

Alcohol tastes manky. I'll only drink it if with friends at a party but I won't drink much.

My dad says I should try weed and I'm now suspicious of his parental responsibility.
