Uh I said that i think, i didn't say it was a fact. But really, why would he use the name "hitler" then? Ok, maybe he has his own reasons, but he's not even active, so i guess we should worry about it anyways.

Why do you automatically assume that he has a reason? Or that it is in fact a he? Does one have to have a reason for the name one chose? Lets face it, once you've signed up with it you rarely see it used to do anything but identify you. Who cares what it means if it's only useful as a differentiator?

If you've got a decent forum name then for most people there's only a 5 minute period where they're quite impressed, and then after that they don't really care. So I'd say there's a pretty strong case for forum names to not necessarily make sense. If your name offends people then usually those people who got offended are told to stop being such blubbering vaginas, and the name is left as it is. That's just personal experience there, but I've never seen it conducted any other way.

I'm really not seeing a very strong argument for the "for" here. I say we close this thread. It's not going anywhere, the user obviously isn't active, and if left open I predict (judging from the way it's been carrying on so far) it will descend into pointless arguing.

Personally, I didn't even know such people existed, because I don't tend to check out the forum statistics. They don't interest me, not are they relevant.

They're kind of disturbing sometimes.

Well... why shouldn't he have a reason? I mean, there's a much bigger chance that he has a reason, using that name, rather than not.
I'm not trying to create some flamewar with you. I just can't see why someone would call himself Hitler, if it's not meant as a joke or an insult to some people.

I believe Martin Luther King Jr. said the following:
:

People should be judged on the content of their character rather than the name above their avatar.
Something like that...

Bwaha, that was great, Mojo.

Why are we still arguing over this? The guy obviously isn't posting.

But I agree that names don't mean much... I mean, take Hobo for example: He didn't sign up to beg for handouts of spare change and food because of his name. Mmyep.

Because there's no need to have a reason. Why SHOULD he? It's just a forum name for god's sakes, it doesn't matter what your name is because people only care about what you type. For instance, I think your name is totally stupid, but do I constantly tell you that? Do I even think it's important? NO. I couldn't care less in fact. The only thing that matters to me is what you say.

No there isn't, and you've not backed up your case. Why is there a much bigger chance that he has a reason? Did you have a reason for chosing your name, or was it just a random thing you plucked out of the air when you registered?

How do you know it's not meant as a joke or an insult? Or how do you know it is? You have no right to judge his reasons for choosing that name when you don't even know what those reasons are.

That's funny, because your names almost mean the same thing....

Now both of you, shut up. The Nazi Dictator doesn't post, no point in the thread, Tim H.C. got his answer, thread locked.

What the fuck man? Don't tell me to shut up, angry little prick.

SeaRex 07-26-2005 02:58 PM

Shut up.
