Anyway, I know Nintendo's focus wasn't only on children, but for the Gamecube a large part of it has been, and it is one of the reasons for their failure. Having a good history of console games doesn't mean you always will, we learnt that from Sega RIP.

Nintendo's stubborn refusal to embrace and support online play was probably one of the biggest nails in the coffin when it came to sales in America.

I'm probably going to end up getting X360, but I might wait until "Halo 3" or a bit of a price drop. I'm still content with my Xbox right now and Live even if most people will be playing the new one I don't mind waiting for a while. Just like I think I'll be keeping my old Xbox and not getting rid of it even if I get 360.

I think I will get the Xbox360 IF it plays all of the old xbox games. And yes, I will wait for a price drop, like i'd ever have $300!

Same here, when I found out RE5 was coming to PS3, I was definately considering the console. Now that it's coming to Xbox360 what would be the point. I'm confident they can make it look just as good as that trailer too.

Have we even been told if the RE5 trailer is real time or not? I don't want another Killzone 2 fiasco...

I'll buy an X360 for TESIV anyway, but RE5 would be nice.

Regardless, it's coming out for PS3 and XB360, so if the graphics are crap compared to the trailer, we will only have Capcom to blame instead of some sort of insidious scheme to make one console look better than the other.

Besides, I doubt it will look much worse. The Resident Evil series has always had a great production value in the graphics department.

Is it just me or are PC gamers somehow really unpopular?

Nah, it's just that PC games are getting harder and harder to run on "everyday" factory systems. I mean, most people still have to beef up their systems quite a bit to play Half-Life 2 and Doom III the way they were meant to be played.

Most people, such as myself, don't have to cash to upgrade their comps. It leaves a smaller, yet more elite, group of gamers who are able to call themselves PC gamers.

That's how I've always seen it, at least.

I'm lucky to be able to run Unreal Tournament 2004 on my personal computer. My family computer can barely run MS Paint. XD

360 for me, Sony is just cheap. They copied Xbox Live for Christ sake!

Yeah. RE4 had damn good graphics. All them Japanese developers have always squeezed the most graphical power out of consoles.

Yeah, they shouldn't have any problem producing the graphics displayed in the trailer.

It's always disappointed me that I can't play Resident Evil because of the terrible controls.

I hope they provide a bit of Chris' back story. I really want to know what's been happening to him since the first game. Why he went missing and such. And also, if Claire's been successful in finding him.

Seriously, they totally revamped the camera and aiming system, and it actually makes the controls playable. And with GameCubes costing just about as much as a plastic spatula these days, what excuse do you have?

I think what SeaRex meant by "elite" was they're a small group of more dedicated gamers. They shell out more money and more of their personal time to do it, as opposed to your standard gamer who just buys a console and works within it's limitations for gaming entertainment. They really are a sort of elite, just like society's class system's elite. More money, more ability, more dedication. Doesn't make them better gamers or better people, they're just more serious about gaming and have adopted it as their hobby.

I have no problems with admitting that they're an elite. Because they are. These days you have to be, because computer systems are required to be so much more powerful to play the games that are being pumped out by the PC gaming industry. I'm a PC gamer and I could be called part of the elite, because I do have a pretty beefed up system. But when it comes to console games most of you guys could just walk all over me cause I'm pretty useless at them.

I reckon that the industry might well move in the direction of console-PC compatability. Allowing the addition of user created/modified content, and all sorts of fancy stuff, to the world of console gaming. It's a hell of a broad horizon and I hope that Microsoft explores it with their Xbox series, because they're probably the best suited for that kind of thing.

I'm a PC gamer and a console gamer. I bought a new PC somewhat recently. It plays Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 nicely. I'm not what you would call rich, I saved up and worked hard to buy it. I do, however agree that the majority of these people are wealthy, hardcore gamers. Nonetheless, I prefer the console over the PC because they're easier to pick up and play.

Thats true, I like the PC alot because it is practically the signature platform for Strategies. And it has it's own versions of the best RPG's like KOTOR and Morrowind.

That I live in New Zealand and stuff isn't as cheap as it is in America.

I may eventually get one though.

Just like I may eventually get the used Nintendo 64 that's in the record store down the road with Goldeneye and Super Mario 64. They're my two favourite games! But it's $60NZ!

I know it's not a console but the way things are at the minute in terms of hardware you could blow those consoles out of the water.

I thought the Xbox 360 and the PS3 were both stating they're far better than todays computers...

Two things: A) Not a console (SHT YO BEEK), and B) It's not next gen, since computers are always current gen. Erm, like, there is no PC 2, you know?

I'm not so sure about Quake IV. I think I've had my fill of "mutant hunting in a claustrophobic industrial setting" with Doom III.

However, that other Quake game looks good... Quake Wars or whatever. Unless it's an RTS and all I've been seeing of the game are FMV shots. Anyone have any info on it? Gameplay? Release date?
