Aaaw, Alf is sooo cute :) I wish i could get Mudokon-anatomy right... Oh well...

A Noctero deity named Hunter. He was fabled to have the most developed wings of any male Noctero, and was also a skilled warrior. In the comic, when Actra, Alf and Munch are killed by a scrab, they end up in Afterworld, Oddworld's afterlife. They are sent to the Land of Untimely Deaths where each is taught how to use the different powers they hold. Actra finds out about her role in the history of the Noctero and is trained by the Hunter to posess her enemies by manipulating the fluids in their body like puppetry. Posession, done the Noctero way folks! Alf meets the Wierdos and is taught the basics of Mudokon-variety posession Munch meets up with, of all people, the good doctors Humphrey and Irwin who, surprisingly, hold no grudges against the Gabbit and help him out if you can believe it. The two help teach Munch how to increase the power of his headport and how to harness the power to become Roid (Come on, I had to include him!). I have to design Afterworld, and a few of it's inhabidents too. Also: A Noctero Skull. Heh, Australopithecus meets the Wolf Man. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ActraSkull.jpg And the skin over the skull: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...Skull_skin.jpg Last of all: I traced a rendered image of Abe to practice my inking. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ed_smaller.jpg |
Great job on hunter! I really like that weapon he's wielding.
That skull with skin made me think, "Okay mom, I'll take out the trash." |
I must say, *pommy larf*, you really, really have anatomy down. Those skulls are mindblowingly awesome-ness.
The fact that you draw the skeletal structure and build off of that I find really gud. Many artists on this forum just, you know, draw, without any sort of actual structure, which bites them back in teh anus0r. <3 Dippy's werk. |
I actually draw the outer body first, then design a skeleton from that. I'm better at skulls than skeletons.
Thanks, guys. Next up: Humphrey and Irwin Vykker, a Mudombie, a picture of Pugsley, and Beavis and Butthead as Vykkers. |
Bravo, they're very good.
I'm particularly looking forward to the Mudombie. I've loved the idea of mudokon zombies since I saw a concept for them, I think, in the book. |

Great new Actra things. The first part of the mouth detail was disturbingly funny...
Just wondering, is the tongue thing a new idea implemented, or has it been planned for a while now? Go Actra + coursettrey! |
I had this idea since the comic I did where Alf posesses a fly.
|
Dip! The tongue idea is wonderfull! I still wont tell why... cuzzuh when I look at the stuff I'm working on now, I want to roll over the floor.
And the new wings look fairly good. I'd suggest that you'd stick with these.;) |
Yes, yes...I DO want to french her! :lick:
|
Freaking awesome...
I Wish i could draw like that... hell my STICKMEN suck.. |
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._New_Wings.jpg
Re-did the wings on this one. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...nchs_Uncle.jpg Munch's uncle (who has yet to be named). The trio meet up with him in Afterworld. He died from having his lungs removed. He is very critical of Munch, and doesn't think that Munch saving his race is anything special. As he puts it, his nephew snagging a can of eggs was a cake-hop compaired to what he had to go though in "the old days." (Walk a mile to school, waist deep in snow... that sort of thing.) Voiced by Jack Nicholson. |
Actra is looking good but her nails are a bit... well not right
I mean mine aren't like that |
:
Since humans don't need to do either of these things, our fingernails are flat, fragile, and almost useless. |
I guess you'r right on this...
aren't they too curved? okay I'll stop annoying you on this |
Nope. Look at a hawk's talons, or a dromaeosaur's. She uses it to hook prey.
Oh, and don't worry about bothering me, I love to answer questions. |
Although I can't deny they're good drawings, the wings are still bothering me. After all, there's a reason wings are typically plain and flat and boring. ;) Hand and feet claws fine - the "wing claws" look like they'd just get in the way. Although I may be forced to break out the sketchbook to explain what I mean, rather than sit here nitpicking in words. :P

Listen, you've had a problem with almost every design I've come up with, and every single time you said, "That wouldn't work," or, "I still don't like it," I've tried to change it, and you still have a problem with it.
Guess what: She's not your character. If you want a flying creature that would really work that much, come up with one yourself. I am NOT CHANGING THEM AGAIN. I'll just have to deal with the fact that, in reality, she couldn't really fly. I'm sorry, but I mean, it happens every single time, Teal. And while I do appriceate the critiques, I'm just tired of whipping out the pen and paper so often. |
I wasn't TRYING to get you to change them, Matt, just making an observation. Since you seemed dead-set on making something that looked... can't think what word I'm after. Not "real", just... aerodynamic, I suppose? Last time you spoke about her, that's all. (That's probably still not the word, but never mind.) I guess I've just swapped notes with OMG LIEK MUST-HAVE-ABSOLUTE-REAL-AS-POSSIBLE people for too long, where every muscle must be plotted to absolute real-world accuracy from real muscle charts and so on. That's the problem with intarweb, can't get the subtleties of body language/inflection across. I apologise if I've bruised feelings.
|
No, I'm sorry for overreacting. But really, I'd like this to be the final design.
|
You're all right, you're allowed to "overreact" at us habitual nitpickers. ;) I thought you were being rather restrained, actually...
|
I think Actra and the Noctero (would there be a plural for that or not?) are absolutely spiffing! :D For one thing it's about time there was a truely Odd heroine out there (even if it is just for fan work) so a job brilliantly done Dipstikk. And don't worry about them not being perfectly accurate, when was anything in Oddworld accurate to life (I doubt a Scrab could exist without loads of problems...). So love the art and keep at it. :D
|
O_O .... O_o You have a lot of talent...fantastic pictures...I wish I could drawing like you...oh my god... :D
|
Yeah...you do, Dipstikk...O.O I can say, yer better with ink than me.
(Love yer banner Ariona) Nice drawin's, Dipstikk. Let's see s'more |
These are really really great Dipp, Keep up the great work :D
|
Thanks, everyone.
Suppose Actra's Oddysee was made into a video game. These are a few hypothetical base attacks (ones she would have from the very beginning). Advanced techniques, attack upgrades, Alf's attacks, and Munch's attacks coming soon. Done in Adobe Illustrator. http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/1...reduced8hx.jpg |
I hope you don't mind if I use a similar design in one of my atomless drawings .
And great job on the moves for Actra! And yeah, you heard all that other stuff on AIM. |

A boar-sized liquivore called a Strakk. It feeds in a similar fashion to an Assassan bug, by hooking and injecting a fast-acting digestive enzyme into it's prey (usu. a carcass), who's internal structure liquifies. The Strakk then sucks up the juice with it's straw-like tongue. The "eye" stalks are really overdeveloped balancing organs, much like our inner ears. It "sees" the world around it by producing an electromagnetic (electrostatic?) field around itself, strong enough to sense and comprehend shapes and objects that enter into the field almost as accurately as actual sight, but weak enough to keep living things in the field unharmed. It is very much based on the creatures from Wayne Barlowe's Expedition. I've already told Kimon about it, but didn't have a picture ready. Here you go, buddeh. Inked version coming very soon. Edit: Inked version coming very now. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...trakk_inks.jpg |
