Out of morbid curiosity I voted for Fighting. While I'd love to see them continue what we already know they do well, there's something about OI's character design that would just make them ideal for designing a "new" fighting game. Which is, in all honesty, something we've not seen in a LONG time. OI's got a visual flare all it's own, and really, that's usually one of the only things that seperates one fighting game from another...

lol well squeek does sound really like a weird name for a slig,i dont know much more then that Sligstorm would be about a albino slig that was going to be killed cos of his mutation or something, but i dont know about his name,it might be as you said,it was going to be Squeek ^_^; or am i wrong *blinks* O_o hmm maybe i am mixing this with another eh... |
So many people who were devistated by the cancellation of SligStorm. Quite shocking. It was cancelled months before you even heard about it, and it was never even an announced title. OWI must be shaking their fists at Mr O'Connor with rage.
I have the shame of suddenly remembering that I did once try and come up with a concept for an Oddworld racing game. Munch could possess other characters' carts, and there was a playable Fleech with a driving lisence called Glossal. Man, what a great childhood that was. |
wow max that sounds great
more ideas for the car combat game munch would drive a gabier egg and his special weapon would be the electric shock a slig would have a remote controler for a sonzer and the special weapon would be the laser on top of it the gluck would drive a model of a moolah note and the special weapon would be a load of moolah eating through the enemy |
:
OWI was born to tell stories at first... how can you tell an amazing story in a fighting game? |
:
|
I'm not among them then...
anyway lorne said something that each new hero will be a new creature. plus sligs don't need to be liberated |
:
|
:
but Xavier,I didnt heard Lorne say that,is there something i have been missing? O_o |
I vote for the adveture, cuz when ya look on the previous games they're all adventure, or has a part of adventure-style and I like it very much!
|
but oddworld could do something a bit different coulden't they
|
I agree with Mojoman.
Stingbee, they could, but they don't want to. You get anything out of an oddworld car game, oddworld has it's own genre and ideas, no point doing something which has been alot and just giving it an oddworld theme. Oddworld develope and create idea for their games, Live Ammo for example. Plus oddworld always do something different, that's why the 2D's games are being produce no more, becuase they want to something different. And theres no way that Squeek would be a Slig, it would very disspointing, because he's/she's/it's one those characters you'll love, like Abe and Munch. I belvieve that Squeeks will a complex creature like Abe and Munch with personality, a background, and have great strenght not in thier phisical state, but in heart and spirit. Plus with a great design too. EDIT: Where on earth is my banner??? |
maybe you put the tick out of the box in the reply box
squeck sounds more like a person not a creature.plus oddworld could make a game where you could choose to be on the industril side or the natives |
I don't remember ticking off the small box, must of been an accident.
A person? You mean humans? There will be no humans in oddworld. In Hand of Odd there supposed a choice choosing to be Industral or native. |
no not humans sorry, odd things.
|
Odd things? What do you mean by odd thing? You think Squeek is going to be an odd thing, well most oddworld creatures are odd I guess.

lol can be ^_^; but i dont realy get the hang of this...i mean i did read a short discreption on what Sligstorm was going to be,and as long as i could read,i dont think they gaved the slig a name...so now my question is who is actuly Squeek? cos is it the slig, then i must have been missing it,since there i readed about sligstorm had no name anouncing O_o (sorry if i ask a stupid question but i just wanna get the hang of it ;P ) |
Squeek is a totally new creature... and is going the third hero of the quintology. (after Abe and Munch)
SligStorm was supposed to be a non-quintology game ;) |
how do we know that squeek is next,it sounds like a rat.
|
:
|
:
Oof. |
to me squeek sounds like a grubb or a rat.
|
:
erm so...just one question,if Sligstorm wasnt canceled, then would he be the 4nd hero,no? just wondering... |
It will be a new creature.
Actually, I've made a design for Squeek. He's sort of a Chippunk, but he has these huge ears that he can use to create a whoosh of air that starts him hopping along the ground really fast. The ears are made of cartiladge that can harden or soften at any time, so they're a useful sheild, weapon, and glider. Plus he has a tail filled with same cartiladge. So it can be used a hand, weapon, or any other tool. I though it was a cool design. :D I'd post pictures, but I hid them all somewhere because they sucked. |
The slig of Sligstorm was never a Quintology hero.
|
:
:
The Slig was the hero of Sligstorm, just as Stranger is the hero of Stranger's Wrath. However neither are quintology heroes. Only confirmed quintology heroes are: Abe, Munch and Squeek. Also mentioned is a hero called Nod, who was supposed to be fourth in the quintology game series. |
Adventure and Strategy are THE two best genres out there. Although the Oddworld Inhabitants can do what they will, I would have no issues whatsoever with Oddworld being expressed through either of these mediums...or potentially a blend of both. Oh, wait...they already did that. More on the adventure side really, but controlling your fellow muds and sligs and whatnot adds a nice degree of strategic gameplay. Even Stranger's Wrath had strategy in it, what with different types of ammo that actually did different things for once. Odd be praised.
(Oh, yeah...I'm back! Why wasn't I here? One word: PsychoNauts!) |
an action RPG (like Fable, but better) game could be totally awesome on oddworld!!!
but I think I can wait a realy long time before I see that happening. |
I agree! And, I agree... It would rule, but I don't see it happening. Perhaps with more exploration than Fable... I love exploring games. :)
