Ah, I'm not the only one to remember that. Trouble is, I can't remember whether it was actually on Oddworld.com, or just in a fan theory. I can remember a fan theory on a website that distinctly elaborated on what I knew was on Oddworld.com, and the History text from the AE-era Oddworld.com makes no mention of Glukkons being mutated by the disaster at the end of their Alchemy Era.

Well if Glukkons have unusable legs, that would imply that at some point in evolution they looked completely diffrent (stating the obvious).
Could it perhaps be that (since Glukkons, Octigi and Glocktigi are related) that Glukkons are the mutated version of Octigi or Glocktigi. This would somewhat explain their unused legs and their oversized heads.
Just like Octigi, Glukkons don't realy have a body so it's rather reasonable to asume they are mutated from the Octigi.

Since Glukkons come form the Glukkon Queen, I doubt every Glukkon which is born becomes mutated, so I think the Queen is mutated herself. Which would probably mean that whole of the Octigi family is mutated.

What I actualy meant was, that the octigi's are the original species. From then Glocktigi evolved and from them came the Glukkons. OR, Glocktigi and Glukkons are two diffrent branches from the Octigi all together.

Just look, if some Octigi at some point mutated (chmical waste, nuclear accident, whatever) and two of it's tenticals grew longer (overtime becoming arms), and the Octigi's head growing even more (ever noticed the sort of 'bands' glukkons have running over the large part of their head), it's not an impossible theory.

I can't find any decent glocktigi pictures anywhere to write a theory about, so I'l leave that to Xavier and his 1337 picture finding skillz :P.

The glukkon species may be similar reproductively with termites. Every termite colony has a queen and she disables all of her offspring to reproduce. But when she senses hear death is near, she produces a special termite with the ability to reproduce. The queen is also the highest being in the colony.

Well so far, every character we have seen in the Oddworld series is a male, well they are portraited as males anyway. Except maybe the clackers.
We havn't actualy seen a queen yet, even though we know they exist.

I really hope the next OW game features a queen cuz I've been waitin a long time to see one in a game and it's getting annoying.
