Playing as the Stranger part was better. I gets to catch outlaws, and he looks cooler in his clothes he was in 'fore he turned in to the steef.

In games I like having something to aim for... in Stranger's part the second time I played I caught as many people alive as I could, made about 20400 moolah. Steef's part there's nothing in particular to aim for... but the storyline and the Grubs made it cool still. If I could've saved Grubs from dying or something then I could've loaded my quicksave a few times to try and get that right, that would've kept me happy.

I might have to got with the Steef part, when I playing as a steef, I felt I was playing as an oddworld creature. Running with your four little legs. I also found it fun with the boat part. It's not base on the western no more.

I found both parts pretty good.It was cool when you were running in the clacker town and getting bountey but that did force me to do my bloody best taking all un-bosses in alive. That didnt change the cool-ness of the bountey-ing.I was kinda angry when i discovert they hang the doc couse i almost had enoth moolah but the:hunter becomes the hunted gave it a sweet twist.
Walking around in the grubb towns whithout them running around screaming was cool also and the ability to charge by pressing the right shoulder button made taking down outlaws alive easyer. It was an overall great game without any best part(although i liked taking down el bows couse he was dang easy.Lol when i sa his picture in the bountey store i thought hed be dang hard and it was realy hard taking down fatty Mcboomboom. But i seriusly hated the part before the final boss, when you have to run to sektos office before time runs out.I didnt attack the enemys i just ran away from em couse when your at top speed you rarely get hit)

I'd say both of them were good because as stranger there was a goal and as a steef you had that nice crossbow

Starngers part was good because it was funny and great for gameplay

The game got really cool when you were steef because everything started to look like the Oddworld we once knew with the huge facilities and especially Sekto Springs and the boat ride to Sekto Springs Dam.

Got to be the Steef part cause when you can charge in knocks enemys out straight away.

Although playing with Stranger as a bounty hunter was extremely entertaining, I liked playing him as a steef much more. Stranger was a great character and you were always hungry to get that bounty turned in, hoping that you would finally get to see what his mysterious surgery was for. It's just that setting out on bounty after bounty got a little repetitive (but it was still excellently done!). Becoming a steef made the game MUCH more interesting and all the more masterful. It was a perfect turn of events, and I was simply astonished when I found out he in fact has six limbs! I loved how the plot thickened so quickly and so abruptly. You're left gaping at your screen (well, I was...)! It was odd. Very odd. Very unexpected. And the animation of the steef was absolutely stunning; having to incorporate two extra limps into the picture must have been difficult, but OWI did such a good job! BUAHAHA. YAY STEEF!

I liked the stranger part for one reason: it didn't seem like a generic fps. In the stranger part, you had to use stealth, and try to NOT kill your enemies. In the Steef part, sure it was cool to blow up about a dozen enemies at once, but so do a ton of other first person shooters. The Stranger part was uniqe-steef part, not so much.

Dark Elite_H2 06-23-2005 11:46 AM

Yeah. Kinda go wit' yeh, Hex. More challenging as Stranger than Steef. And we all love challenging things, don't we folks?

I liked them both equally. Not quite sure it I like the Viking armor, though...or getting all my upgrades stripped from me.

EDIT: Thank you Dipstikk.

I liked both parts of the game because you get all the moods and really cool scenery.

I think you mean Viking. I wonder if Oddworld characters use terms like "Vykking around" in the context of someone exhibiting Vykker-like behavior, though.

Oops! My bad. I guess I had Vykkers on the brain that day. Thanks for the catch.

Hmm, it would be really weird if Steef could fit in Vykker armor... It would seemingly be a bit small, dont you think? lol. :D

Oddkid 09-15-2005 08:23 PM

I like the Stranger parts best. I can better identify with something that walks on two legs.....well...yeah i know he runs on four but STILL.

And the Steef's running style seems a bit awkward. Why would he need his forearms to help in the running process if he already has four legs?

Not to mention it feels like a complete Identity change. I'm not playing Stranger anymore. I'm playing the Steef. And Stranger was already weird, but at the exact moment I feel myself growing close to the main character, He changes. It was like hitting my jaw and sending me into a wall.

And yes I know the big reason why most of you may like the Steef part better than the Stranger part is because the plot goes into full motion from that point onward.

But that dosen't matter because I've lost the character connection.

Ignigeno 09-27-2005 09:25 AM

I'd have to say I preferred the first half of the game. I love the initial mysteriousness of Stranger and not to mention I adore the outfit he wears. The game climaxed for me after finding out his true indentity, as it was something I'd been going half crazy trying to figure out the whole time I was playing. I didn't find the second half as compelling as the first, for that reason. Not that I didn't love the fact that he was a Steef, infact I really enjoyed the gameplay as a steef.

Regardless, Stranger is still my favorite Oddworld character so far. =)
